BREAKING: GOP Marjorie Taylor Greene appears to be more corrupt than advertised. According to two new ethics charges filed by the progressive watchdog organization End Citizens United last week, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia is accused of “unethical and unlawful” campaign expenditures as well as “self-serving and shady activities.”

The group has filed complaints with the Federal Election Commission and the Office of Congressional Ethics over a recent ad in which the congresswoman urges supporters to contact their members of Congress and ask them to vote against the $1 trillion infrastructure bill that passed the Senate by a 69-vote bipartisan margin last month.

In the video, Greene adds, “nineteen spineless Senate Republicans joined Chuck Schumer and the Senate Democrats to approve the so-called infrastructure plan, which is really the first step in Biden’s communization of America.” “Now is the moment for Republicans to unify, stand firm, and vote no.”

According to the group’s FEC complaint, Greene’s “Save America Stop Socialism” leadership PAC made an undeclared “in-kind contribution” to her own campaign by showing a virtually identical version of the commercial on One America News Network, and that the gift much exceeded the legal limit of $5000. Many members of Congress have so-called leadership PACs, which are supposedly intended to raise donations for other candidates but have come to be seen as “slush funds” by ethics experts.

Meanwhile, according to the complaint filed with the House Ethics Committee, Rep. Greene “improperly used her campaign and leadership PAC to conduct official House activities” because the ad is a “grassroots lobbying campaign to oppose legislation,” which the group claims is “fundamentally official in nature.” Members of Congress are prohibited from utilizing campaign cash for official purposes under federal law and House rules. Greene had previously been punished by the House Ethics Committee three times for refusing to wear a mask on the House floor, resulting in a loss of $5,500 from her official congressional pay.

In a Tuesday press release, End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller said, “Congresswoman Greene has exhibited a clear disrespect for the law and is engaged in corrupt Washington tactics.”

“Trying to get around federal law and rules by using her leadership PAC is both unethical and unlawful. Both the FEC and the OCE should launch an inquiry right away to hold Hillary accountable for her self-serving and shady behavior.” Greene’s office, when contacted for comment, denied the charges.

A representative for Rep. Greene’s office stated, “This is a baseless complaint from a partisan political organization posing as some type of watchdog group.” “This is just another strategy right out of the communist playbook of the Democrats.” If successful, the case might be a setback for the far-right Georgia politician. Greene has mostly concentrated on campaigning and media appearances since the House decided to remove her from her committees in February over her apparent encouragement of political violence against Democrats.
