Who finances UNHCR?

UNHCR is financed by a combination of sources, including government contributions, private donations, and grants from international organizations. The majority of UNHCR’s funding comes from governments, with the United States, the European Union, and Japan being among the largest contributors. In addition to government contributions, UNHCR also receives funding from private donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. UNHCR also partners with a range of international organizations and institutions, such as the World Bank and the European Union, to access additional funding and resources for its programs. To ensure transparency and accountability, UNHCR reports regularly on its funding sources and expenditures, and undergoes regular audits and evaluations by external auditors and oversight bodies.
