The UNDP focuses on three main areas:

The UNDP works with countries to implement sustainable development policies and programs that are tailored to their specific needs and priorities.
- Democratic governance: The UNDP supports democratic institutions and processes, including free and fair elections, transparent and accountable governance, and respect for human rights. It works with governments, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen democratic governance and promote citizen participation.
- Climate and disaster resilience: The UNDP helps countries to build resilience to the impacts of climate change and natural disasters. This includes supporting countries to develop and implement strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, adapt to the impacts of climate change, and prepare for and respond to disasters.
