As part of its strategic plan, Médecins du Monde has defined six political battles including the Humanitarian Space. This appears to be increasingly constrained, which hampers the ability to ensure action based on respect for humanitarian principles. With the aim of guaranteeing access to quality health care for people living in crisis situations, Médecins du Monde works to amplify its advocacy for respect for international humanitarian law, humanitarian principles, and the protection of humanitarian personnel. and health and to ensure safe and unhindered humanitarian access. JOB DESCRIPTION :

Under the direct supervision of the head of the Thematic Expertise and Advocacy division (international sector), you contribute to the definition and implementation of the objectives and orientations of the “humanitarian space” political fight. More specifically, you will monitor strategic orientations, offer technical support to operational teams and participate in direct advocacy as well as representation of the association.

Your main responsibilities are:

Contribution to the implementation and monitoring of strategic orientations on the political fight Humanitarian Space

  • Support the Humanitarian Space thematic referent in the definition, development and dissemination of the overall political positioning and the transversal advocacy action plan on the Humanitarian Space political fight
  • Monitor and contribute to the analysis of the political situation and international relations, humanitarian issues and advocacy opportunities at the national, regional and international level; produce summary notes on these subjects
  • Contribute to the implementation and adaptation of the advocacy plan on the humanitarian space theme and adapt this action plan
  • Contribute to the articulation and coherence of influencing work from the local level to the regional and international levels
  • Participate and contribute to discussions of associative bodies
  • Contribute to the annual review of the implementation of the Humanitarian Space advocacy strategy with the people concerned

Strengthening the skills of operational teams based on an annual prioritization of three to four missions

  • Develop and lead workshops and training and awareness sessions on positioning, strategy, advocacy tools and methodologies
  • Contribute to the training and awareness-raising of operational teams on international humanitarian law and the different positions relating to humanitarian advocacy
  • Develop and make available advocacy documents and tools for operational teams
  • Promote exchanges of practices between projects
  • Ensure the briefing of people in charge of advocacy at the level of the missions concerned

Technical support and support for operational teams based on an annual prioritization of 3 to 4 missions

  • Accompany and support field and headquarters teams in the definition, implementation and monitoring of advocacy strategies at mission level
  • Participate in thinking about needs in terms of operational research or legal analyses, participate in their realization
  • Contribute to the development of funding requests to support advocacy work on the theme
  • Support teams in the analysis and use of national and international legal frameworks as advocacy levers on prioritized thematic issues

Direct advocacy and representation

  • Write reports, orientation and summary notes, case studies, letters based on data from operations to contribute to and inform advocacy and strategy in the humanitarian space
  • Help coordinate direct lobbying work with different advocacy targets
  • Organize events, high-level meetings aimed at influencing and/or mobilizing civil society (side events, conferences, lobby tours, etc.)
  • Represent the association to different bodies, institutions and at conferences
  • Contribute to the coordination of the association’s representation and participation in key regional and international conferences and meetings on the theme
  • Participate in the development and launch of advocacy campaigns on international and European issues, participate in the writing of communication notes

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Permanent contract
  • Full time
  • Position to be filled from April 15, 2024
  • Gross monthly salary of 3,571 euros
  • Position status: executive
  • 13th month equivalent paid in 2 installments – from 6 months of actual work seniority
  • Mutual (60% participation of MdM and 40% of the employee)
  • 22.5 RTT / in
  • 5 weeks of paid leave / year
  • Restaurant vouchers worth 9.00 euros (60% contribution from MdM)
  • Public transport ticket reimbursement at 50%
  • Teleworking agreement subject to eligibility of your position: 110 days of teleworking per year (i.e. on average 2.5 days of teleworking per week) with the obligation to work face-to-face at least 5 days per month

REQUIRED PROFILE :

  • Higher education in political science, international law, humanitarian affairs or international relations…
  • Experience in the humanitarian and/or human rights advocacy sector
  • Field experience in at least two or three emergency contexts
  • Sense of pedagogy
  • Oral communication, written communication
  • Sense of synthesis
  • The ability to work in a team
  • Autonomy, adaptability
  • Languages: fluent English and French
  • You adhere to the values ​​and activist positioning of Médecins du Monde.
