Purpose

PAC is an active NGO established in 2012, registered in Turkey, active in NWS, with other small operations offices in both Yemen and Sudan.

In NWS; PAC is a leading organization in both the health and Nutrition sectors through several central programs that work to improve the resilience of crisis-affected communities in NWS.

PAC’s programs always aimed to build and support the active health and nutrition systems in the target areas through maintaining a high level of integration across several sectors and leads central services to facilitate the provision of the service that other actors are running in NWS.

PAC is fully applying for the Protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA) principles in all its work stages, as well, PAC is highly committed to creating a safe service provision environment based on humanitarian principles, and international humanitarian law, clean of any racism.

Position: Researcher

Department: MERL & AAP Department

Line Manager: MERL & AAP Manager

Workplace: Turkey-Gaziantep/Northwest Syria

Responsibilities

  • The researcher will conduct scientific studies in the field of humanitarian interventions within the nutrition sector (no need to be a specialist in the field of nutrition).
  • Contributing and developing the research problem statement, based on the accumulated data concerning beneficiaries, the researcher is encouraged to propose and execute additional research ideas related to the field. It is expected that the researcher will identify new research topics that contribute to achieving project objectives and meet the team’s needs.
  • Study the impact of humanitarian interventions in the nutrition sector on the surrounding community (the specific limitation can be discussed upon hiring the researcher).
  • Designing data collection tools (there will be full support from the MERL side regarding the technical issues) if the research requires collecting additional primary data on relevant topics to fulfil the research objectives.
  • Analyzing the required data which could be the collected beneficiaries’ data or any additional related data.
  • The academic researcher will play a pivotal role within the MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) team, actively contributing to the overall project evaluation process.
  • Any other tasks related to the subject are assigned by the MERL Department.

Position Requirements

  • A master’s or doctoral degree in the field of humanities or any field related to the subject.
  • Experiences in the field of academic research.
  • Experience in the field of statistics.
  • Very good in English and Arabic (both written and spoken).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Familiarity with humanitarian and development contexts, particularly in the NWS region.
  • It is preferable to have DMDA (Data Management and Data Analysis) skills.
  • More than two years of professional experience conducting research.
