BACKGROUND :
Present in Haiti since 2008, the organization implements projects on the following themes :
– Functional rehabilitation
– Mental health
– Economic inclusion
– Inclusive disaster risk management
– Humanitarian logistics
– Defending the rights of people with disabilities and inclusion
– Emergency responses ( COVID, Cholera, Cyclones, Earthquakes, etc. ).
The projects are implemented with many local partners including organizations of disabled people, in the departments of the West, the North-West, the North, the North-East, from the South and the South East. Two operational bases are located in Port-au-Prince and in Les Cayes ( opening of the base as part of the response to the August 2021 earthquake ).
HI Haiti had a global budget of 3.7 million euros in 2022 and a team made up of 49 staffs ( 4 expatriates and 45 nationals ). The program is funded by Belgian Development Cooperation ( DGD ), USAID / BHA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development ( BMZ ), the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs ( GFFO ), the Quebec International Development Program ( PQDI ), among others.
The 2 main projects currently deployed in Rehabilitation in Haiti are oriented towards early childhood.
As part of a replacement, the Haiti program is looking for a ( e ) Specialist Rehabilitation based ( e ) in Port au Prince.
YOUR MISSION :
Directly attached to the Country Director, as a Rehabilitation Specialist you will have 6 major missions :
Mission 1: Technical expertise
• Define a framework and standards on technical know-how falling within its scope.
• Contribute to the improvement of technical know-how by developing lessons learned, research and innovation projects.
Mission 2: Operations support
• Provide strategic technical advice
• Ensure the control of the technical quality and relevance of HI activities falling within its scope of action.
Mission3: Responsibilities for emergency preparedness and response
Contribute to the support or implementation of emergency preparedness actions of the program / s and, during an emergency, adapts its working modality in order to contribute to an effective humanitarian response from HI.
Mission 4: Development of opportunities
Contribute to the development of major opportunities or new projects within the framework of its sectoral field of action, in agreement with the technical director, the person responsible for policy and development, if applicable, and the institutional funding team.
Mission 5: Influence
Contribute to the prestige and international influence of HI’s expertise in its sector of activity ( in close connection with the person responsible for policy and development, if applicable )
Mission 6: Skills development and management
Facilitate the professional development of technical management.
SPECIFICITIES / POSTAL PARTICULARITIES :
Haiti is currently experiencing a major crisis with a strong impact on the living environment, both the economic and security plan.
The position is based in Port au Prince ( Haiti ), there are international commercial flights with different companies ( direct links with France, the Dominican Republic and the United States … ).
The current security situation in Port au Prince imposes a curfew at 6 p.m. ( this can evolve ) and the accessible areas in the city are considerably reduced, all trips in the area are by car. When traveling to other cities in the country, they will be by plane. It is possible to go to several restaurants in the city and take advantage of the presence of a large humanitarian community.
Experiences / Training
• You hold a diploma in rehabilitation ( occupational therapist, physiotherapist, ortho prosthetist )
• You have at least 5 years of rehabilitation experience integrating experience abroad in low and middle income countries
• You have already worked in Haiti, you know the Haitian context
• You master the international frameworks and standards related to rehabilitation
• You have experience in capacity building
• You are resilient to stress and uncertainty
• You are reactive and like working in a team / network

• 12-month International contract to be filled as soon as possible
• The international contract allows social security coverage adapted to everyone’s needs

• Salary: from 2757 € gross / month according to professional experience
• Perdiem: 834.20 € net / month – paid in local currency in the field
• Hardship: 500 € net / month
• Paid holidays: 25 days per year; R&R: Level 3 ( 5 Days every 8 weeks )
