You know us without knowing us: Médecins du Monde is an activist medical association of international solidarity present in nearly 30 countries and 15 regions in France. We have been committed for over 40 years to caring for the most vulnerable populations and to testifying to the obstacles noted with regard to access to care. Aren’t you a doctor ? Do not panic, 75% of employees occupy non-medical positions.
We have almost 500 employees under French law but also 1,400 employees on the ground internationally and more than 1,500 volunteers in France. Citizen commitment and volunteering are at the heart of our associative model. At Médecins du Monde, volunteers and employees have a common commitment: solidarity. We suggest that you embody this value by working alongside us !
In support of local collectives since 2017, the migration cross-Alpine border program Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur aims to allow access to the rights and care of exiled people present at the Franco-Italian border ( Briançon-Montgenèvre/Oulx ) in an overall context making border crossings both more numerous and more dangerous.
As part of a logic of reducing the health, physical and psychological risks incurred by people in exile, the program is divided into three main operational components :
- A mobile shelter unit transported and deployed in the mountains with the association Tous Migrants
- Access to first aid for people sheltered in the premises of the partner Refuges Solidaires and in connection with the permanence of access to health care at Briançon hospital
- Documentation of violations of rights observed at the border with the Anafé association and the Coordination of actions at internal borders.
Finally, the program also develops advocacy and communication activities and skills building for the various partners while participating in the animation of local interassociative life.
