We are currently recruiting a Director / Director WASH ( Water, Sanitation and Hygiene ) to join our Programs ** team, ** based in France. This position can be based in Paris or telework with regular meetings in Paris. We offer competitive wages, as well as benefits.

About the position
Relief International works mainly on the 4 the following sectors for the implementation of its programs: Health; Water, sanitation and hygiene ( WASH ); Economic development; and Education ; while integrating protection, impacts related to climate change, mitigation of the effects of conflicts and the use of ‘ cash ’ programs in partnership with the communities with which we work.
The director WASH will work with the IR teams to implement the vision, strategy and theory of change in water, sanitation and hygiene.
Main responsibilities
Vision and strategy
- In the context of climate change, armed conflict and natural disasters, you will lead the development and support the implementation of the strategy / theory of change on water, sanitation and hygiene ( WASH ) from Relief International.
Project development
- Direct and support the design of the WASH program.
- Work on the development of new projects, in particular in collaboration with bilateral donors ( governments ), multilateral ( UN and EU ), foundations and companies, by integrating opportunities for public-private partnerships.
WASH capacity of RI
- Strengthen the capacity of RI in the field to enable our teams to develop and implement quality WASH programs, through the use of innovative solutions to address complex problems.
- Work with the WASH services of host country governments, integrate local and industrial standards in the sector.
Representation and commitment
- Communicate on the achievements of RI, internally and externally.
- Plan specific and multisectoral WASH assessments.
- Actively participate in the main WASH networks.
- Engage in dialogue with potential external partners.
Value-added partnerships
- Explore, direct and facilitate value-added partnerships – at global, regional and national levels.
- Explore the possibilities of IR partnerships with and private sector companies
About you
You will bring the’ experience and the following skills.
- In-depth contextual understanding of the countries in which RI operates
- Communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
- Master, or Ingenieur-e in the sciences of the’environnement, in the management of’enterprise in the field of’eau and’sanitation, or in a similar field or equivalent experience
- Successful professional experience in the WASH sector on donor-funded projects ; ’experience in fragile countries desired
- Experience in successfully supporting and managing WASH project teams on technical needs related to the full project cycle
- Demonstrated understanding and experience with L’UE, US,’ONU and other public and private donors is desirable.
- Experience in developing winning bid files for large-scale projects.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work virtually with team members from around the world

- Ability and interest in traveling to support country offices
