Relief International ( IR ) works in 15 countries around the world on poverty reduction programs, increased well-being and dignity. We specialize in fragile contexts, in response to natural disasters, humanitarian crises and chronic poverty.
The post.
As a key member of the overall program development team, you will focus on developing and developing high impact programs, working on calls for humanitarian and development projects. You will liaise with institutional donors to identify future funding opportunities and guarantee quality proposals before they are submitted.
The program development team is based in our various headquarters, Washington DC, London and Lyon and provides support to the offices of the countries in which we operate by helping them to design high-quality programs, and by writing them in a precise and operational manner. You will thrive on a senior level team dedicated to creating high impact programs.
Travel
Depending on the needs, this role could be required to move ( 30% ) to our field offices, over periods of up to four weeks and within short deadlines, as required
Your responsibilities will be
Donor commitment and strategic positioning ( around 30% )
- Coordinate, with programs and the program development team, online monitoring of calls for proposals and future opportunities and inform field teams
- Develop innovative concepts and projects to generate donor interest in generating new funding opportunities.
- In coordination with regional and national teams, support the development and coordination of the RI strategy in terms of program development.
- Maintain regular engagement with donors, international organizations, national governments, foundations, etc.
- Represent RI to the donor community.
- Maintain contacts with international and local NGOs as well as with private sector companies in order to facilitate the partnerships necessary for program development opportunities.
- Analyze strategic positioning approaches for future financing plans and carry out an analysis of future priority proposals.
Development of ( proposals around 70% )
- Refer to the headquarters teams for Program Development on the development of proposals related to donors from the European Union.
- Ensure that proposals meet the technical requirements of strategic donors.
- Engage in the needs assessment for project proposals, if necessary.
- Contribute to the design of programs, as well as for pilot and / or large-scale programs.
- After submitting projects, meet with donor officials to ensure that the project is aligned with donor objectives.
- Participate in the preparation of funding proposals.
- Monitor the drafting of projects at country level and report on the progress to the central team.
- Work on the relevance of the elements presented during project validation decisions
- Build the capacity of regional and national teams in program development ;
- Ensure that the project drafting and review processes are carried out within the time allowed.
- Coordinate the drafting of projects by integrating the various technical referents of the departments
About you.
You will bring the following experience and skills.
- Diploma – Master of international relations, business administration or another relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience of work and development / drafting of proposals with European donors required, with a preference for ECHO and the European Commission.
- Experience with donors to the United States government not required, but desirable. In the absence of demonstrated experience, a willingness to learn and develop skills to advise countries on the USAID / BHA and PRM proposal submissions is essential.
- Demonstrated control of European government grants, public / private donors and financial management.
- Knowledge of the global humanitarian context
- Mastery of skills in the development cycle of a – proposal from creation to submission to donors.
- Knowledge of the key elements of donors who contribute to the results of business development.
- Willingness to travel, sometimes in short time.
- Experience in person management.
