Coordinator of the RESPECT project in Haiti At Doctors of the World Canada

Present in Canada and in 76 countries, Doctors of the World is a voluntary, independent and international movement that works in Canada and abroad. Through innovative health programmes and advocacy actions that are based on evidence, the, we empower marginalized people and communities to act and claim their right to health while fighting for universal access to care.

Present in Haiti since 1996, MdM Canada implements humanitarian and development projects in the departments of’Ouest, Nippes and Nord-Ouest. Its operations focus on’ access to primary health care, sexual and reproductive rights and health, epidemic response (cholera) and mental health.

OUR CHALLENGE

The RESPECT project is implemented by Médecins du Monde over a period of 5 years transversely over 3 countries: Burkina Faso, Benin and Haiti. The project mainly targets adolescent girls and young women aged 10 to 24 in vulnerable and marginalized situations, who present significant needs in terms of health rights and more specifically in relation to their sexual and reproductive rights and health. In collaboration with local civil society organizations ( OSC ), parents, community and medical personnel from targeted regions, the project wishes to change and evolve visions and attitudes in favor of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights ( SDSR ) of adolescents and young people.

The coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the planning, implementation and monitoring of the RESPECT project implemented by Doctors of the World Canada (MoC-C) in Haiti.

Under the supervision of the Head of Mission of Doctors of the World Canada in Haiti, the holder of the position will ensure the quality and relevance of the activities, the achievement of the objectives, and, the mobilization of the human and material resources necessary for the proper functioning of the project, partnerships and reporting necessary for the project, while ensuring cohesion with the partners in the execution of projects.

Your main tasks will be the following (non-exhaustive and evolving list) :

  • Ensure the smooth running, planning and efficient programmatic management of the project in accordance with the rules and procedures of MdM-C and the funder ;
  • In collaboration with partners and logistics, finance and administration teams, participate in the planning of human, material and financial resources of the project ;
  • With the support of his team, COORDINate the collection and analysis of project monitoring data ;
  • Carry out regular field monitoring missions (the’implementation zones and MdM-C bases) ;
  • Coordinate and align the project actions with the opinions of the thematic referents of the’ MdM-C team in Haiti, at the headquarters and committees of the project ;
  • Participate in the development and the’writing of new projects in collaboration with the Head of Mission ;
  • Participate in the definition of the long-term strategic and operational orientations of MdM-C in Haiti ;
  • Represent MdM-C at meetings or’ activities by delegation of the Head of Mission ;
  • Ensure the participation of operational partners in the design, implementation and’evaluation of projects and ensure compliance with the commitments made by MoM-C ;
  • Ensure with the’ team the development and drafting of the annual work plans (ATPs), quarterly, semi-annual, annual and final reports of the project ;
  • Participate in the meetings planned by donors or other tables or platforms of the project as well as’aux activities of advocacy and communication ;
  • Advise and support his team in problem solving and managing the people and property under their responsibility ;
  • Participate in the’ performance evaluation of his team, to promote their professional development and capacity building ;
  • Organize and animate the coordination and governance meetings of the project in Haiti ;
  • Participate in the overall project coordination meetings and the various committees ;
  • Be responsible for the planning and budget monitoring of the project in good alignment with activities ;
  • In collaboration with members of the’ finance team, participate in the’ preparation of financial reports and the’ budget review exercise of the project.

OUR OFFER

  • Unaccompanied expatriate post based in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
  • 1 Year renewable contract
  • Entry into office scheduled for May 2024
  • Compensation according to the salary grid of MdM Canada (from 63 750 $ to 86 250 $ CA)
  • Monthly expatriation allowances according to MdM Canada policy
  • Rest period ( R & R ) according to the policy of MdM Canada
  • 4 weeks vacation per year
  • Insurance ( medical expenses, repatriation and provident )
  • Housing in individual apartments

YOUR PROFILE

  • Graduate Diploma in Management, Public Health, International Development, Social Sciences or Any Other Related Training
  • 5 years of experience in development or humanitarian field management and 3 years in a similar position
  • Experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights with rights defense and advocacy components an asset
  • Experience with young people and in Haiti an asset
  • Availability for regular field missions
  • Excellent editorial skills in French, English an asset
  • Knowledge of Haitian creole an asset
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Proven skills in project planning, coordination and monitoring, including budget monitoring
  • Excellent representation, communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills
  • Great ability to prioritize, synthesize,’adapt, live and work in a team and manage stress
  • Recognized for your commitment, proactivity as well as your great sense of’organization and’ humor
