Mission and objectives
The United Nations Population Fund ( UNFPA ) is the United Nations governing agency responsible for sexual and reproductive health matters. Its mission is to create a world in which each pregnancy is desired, each safe delivery. A world in which each young person fully realizes their potential. The new UNFPA strategic plan ( 2022-2025 ) revolves around three transformative results: i ) ending preventable maternal deaths ; ii ) end unmet need for family planning and; iii ) end gender-based violence and harmful practices against women & girls. UNFPA increases the opportunities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives. Since UNFPA began operating in 1969,the number – and the proportion – of women who die from complications due to pregnancy or childbirth have halved. Families are fewer and healthier. Young people are more connected and enjoy more autonomy than before.
Context
L’UNFPA Niger is conducting a digital campaign to raise awareness about fake news during this period of political crisis in Niger in order to better inform young people about the consequences of the fake news and population issues, including Gender/Gender-based violence and sexual and reproductive health among adolescents and youth. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is an international development agency attached to the United Nations that works to build a world where the potential of every young person is fulfilled. ’UNFPA’s interventions focus on women, adolescents and young people. For a better transmission and capitalization of the messages, the flyers of this campaign, initially developed in French will be translated into haussa,zarma and Tamasheq are some of the main local languages of the country.

Task description
We are looking for 15 volunteers online to support us in translating the flyers from the awareness campaign on social media against fakes news in times of French crisis in Haussa ( 5 volunteers ) Zarma ( 5 volunteers ) and Tamasheq ( 5 volunteers ); To this end, volunteers are asked to: – Ensure that the translation is concise, complies with our communication directives and adapted to the public. -The selected online volunteers will receive the document in the original and advice on the target audience as well as other guidelines, if necessary. *
Requirements
Required experience
Applicants should be well understood and fluent in Haussa, Zarma and Tamasheq; The experience in translation and interpretation of Niger’s local languages is considered an asset. Female candidates are strongly encouraged.
