Mission and objectives

UN Women, is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, It has been present in Bolivia since 2010 with the mandate to contribute to the implementation of all the human rights commitments of women assumed and ratified by the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

Context

The United Nations entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, UN Women, based on the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works to eliminate discrimination against women and girls; for the empowerment of women, and to achieve equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, for human rights, in humanitarian actions, in peace and security. The six priority areas are:

•  Expand women’s voices, leadership, and participation;
•  Eliminate violence against women and girls;
•  Strengthen the implementation of the women’s peace and security agenda;
•  Increase the economic autonomy of women;
•  Make gender equality priorities essential in national, local and sectoral plans, budgets and statistics;
•  Implement global norms, policies and parameters on gender equality and the empowerment of women, laying the groundwork for action by governments and other stakeholders at all levels. Three international agreements form the basis of UN WOMEN’s work: the Beijing Platform for Action, resulting from the Fourth World Conference on Women held in 1995, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, considered as the Fundamental Declaration of Women’s Rights and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. The spirit of these agreements was reaffirmed in the Millennium Declaration and in the eight Millennium Development Goals established for 2015 and later in the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.Security Council resolutions, 1325 ( 2000 ) on women, peace and security, and 1820 ( 2008 ) on sexual violence in conflict, They are also key benchmarks for UN WOMEN’s work in supporting women in conflict and post-conflict situations. Under this framework, the UN Women’s Country Office in Bolivia promotes the “ project Strengthening women’s rights in Bolivia within the framework of Agenda 2030 from a gender perspective ” with the purpose of strengthening the knowledge and awareness of the elected national authorities on the agenda of women’s rights. Consequently, in order to promote and contribute to the fulfillment of the human, individual and collective rights of women in indigenous governance,this initiative seeks to strengthen the institutional capacities of the Charagua Iyaambae Indigenous Autonomous Government ( GAIOC ) in the gender approach; and contribute in this way, to respond to the needs and challenges that prevent indigenous women from enjoying the full exercise of their rights. For this reason, identifies the need for an assignment of a United Nations Volunteer to provide technical assistance and strengthen the capacities of GAIOC Charagua Iyambae in the gender approach and contribute to design and implementation of actions that promote the exercise of the rights of indigenous peoples and women of the Charagua Iyambae Indigenous Autonomy ( AIOC ). to respond to the needs and challenges that prevent indigenous women from enjoying the full exercise of their rights. Task description

Under the direct supervision of the Legal Head of the Guaraní Indigenous Autonomous Government of Charagua Iyambae, his team and the remote supervision of the Coordinator of the Area of Governance and Political Participation, the volunteer will have the following functions and responsibilities: a ) Prepare and implement a calendar of meetings with zonal authorities and captaincies, as well as representatives of civil society, AIOC leaders Charagua Iyambae to gather information on perceptions and main challenges. This will include the prior logistical and operational organization of the events, as well as foreseeing aspects related to the transfer of the consultant to captaincies and areas as appropriate.b ) Prepare and implement a meeting schedule with GAIOC Charagua Iyambae staff to collect on-site information on the state of institutional situation. c ) Identify gender-inclusive participation mechanisms. d ) Participate in meetings, trainings and workshops implemented by UN Women to accompany and strengthen their human rights and women’s rights capacities. e ) Support in the organization and development of technical capacity-building workshops aimed at authorities and representatives of the three areas, captaincies and communities belonging to the territorial jurisdiction of the AIOC Charagua Iyambae.f ) Contribute to the production of practical tools to include the gender perspective with cultural relevance in the Guaraní indigenous governance of Charagua Iyambae. g ) Apply the tools for validation and feedback, generating new capacities in the autonomous institutionality of the Guaraní indigenous government, Charagua Iyambae. h ) Contribute to the monitoring of acts of violation of political rights of women elected and designated authorities. i ) Participate in coordination meetings with GAIOC Charagua Iyambae, UN Women and ILO. j ) Promote awareness and awareness of the gender perspective. k ) Contribute to the elaboration of a diagnosis and institutional mapping of the indigenous autonomous government Charagua Iyambae;and contribute to the generation of evidence with a gender perspective that makes visible the experiences, challenges and opportunities of men and women in the Guaraní territory. l ) Support in the design of an action plan for mainstreaming the gender approach in the Guaraní indigenous autonomous government Charagua Iyambae according to the mapping of needs identified in the diagnosis. m ) Facilitate or coordinate the development and / or implementation of an action plan for gender mainstreaming in the GAIOC Charagua Iyambae. n ) Carry out administrative expenses of funds allocated according to UN Women policy and procedures or ) Support the organization, logistics of workshops, meetings and events of the project; p ) Any other task assigned by your supervisor. The department of Santa Cruz is one of the nine departments into which Bolivia is divided. Its capital and most populous city is Santa Cruz de la Sierra.
