Job Purpose
The purpose of a Site Engineer is to oversee and manage construction and infrastructure projects within the camps. The Site Engineer’s role is crucial in ensuring that these projects are executed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with engineering standards and specifications
Key Activities/Tasks/Duties
- Direct coordination with the project coordinator and technical staff in the project.
- Participation in the preparation of engineering and detailed plans for project components at various sites, technical specifications, and requirements.
- Daily field visits to monitor project activities as needed.
- Ensure that the execution aligns with the plans, studies, technical requirements, and contractual conditions of the project.
- Provide technical observations and necessary corrections in coordination with the project coordinator.
- Inspection of all materials used in construction to ensure compliance with specifications, in coordination with the project coordinator, and providing technical inputs.
- Offering advice and technical solutions during project execution in case of any real changes requiring technical adjustments, in coordination with project management.
- Monitoring the work of technical inspectors (assistant engineers) in the field and providing necessary technical support.
- Quantifying and periodically updating the executed quantities during project implementation.
- Creating detailed implementation plans for all project activities at different sites.
- Preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly reports and submission to the project coordinator.
- Execution of engineering tasks requested by the management.
Note: the above mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Another future responsibilities/accountability may be assigned to the job depending on the department organizational chart.
Required Qualifications (Education/Languages/Work Experience)
- Essential:
- Engineering degree (civil or architecture).
- Ability to work on engineering programs {AutoCAD _ GIS)
- Ability to use surveying devices, especially Nevo
- Desirable
- Working on global mapper is a plus
Required Competencies
- Technical Competencies (TC):
- Ability to prepare work reports in English and Arabic
- An acceptable level of English speaking, reading and writing
- Very good skills in Office and cloud storage programs.
- Core Competencies (CC):
- Ability to work under pressure with high time management
- Previous experience working inside camps. (Work experience in drainage projects, rain channels, and tent floor insulation is an added advantage)
- Previous experience working in humanitarian organizations of at least three years in the field of shelter, water and sanitation
