Senior Associate, Capital Solutions At Opportunity International


The Senior Associate will be a key member of the Capital Solutions team and execute blended capital and innovative structured finance transactions for Opportunity’s financial institution partners. In addition, the Senior Associate will originate, negotiate, and drive credit risk management instruments (e.g. loan guarantees, and collateral packages).

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Represent Opportunity in the origination, structuring, negotiation of terms, and execution of Term Sheets, Letters of Intent, etc.
  • Structure social impact investment vehicles to leverage Opportunity’s mission, including innovative finance investment vehicles, credit risk management mechanisms, and loan guarantees.
  • Support the management of Opportunity’s equity positions in several financial institutions.
  • Collaborate with institutional and U.S. government fundraising teams in developing a pipeline of innovative development financial solutions to further Opportunity’s programs.
  • Coordinate Financial Institution due diligence efforts with cross-functional teams.
  • Partner with program leads to develop structured finance instruments aimed at mobilizing impact and catalytic capital to the communities in need.
  • Develop strong relationships with external partners including investment bankers, impact investment funds, development finance institutions, and microfinance institutions.
  • Conduct business and strategic peer benchmarking.
  • Participate and help coordinate the Capital Solutions unit’s development efforts by researching the blended capital landscape.
  • Develop internal memoranda/materials to support the team’s initiatives and objectives.
  • Work with subject matter experts across the industry including Opportunity board members and other NGO leaders.
  • Monitor industry trends and strategies in the impact and catalytic capital industries,

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • One Financial Analyst.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree, preferred, in business administration, public policy, international studies or equivalent, finished or expected to finish in May 2024.
  • At least 3 years of experience in economic development, investment banking, commercial banking, private equity, corporate development, impact investing, or management consulting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applied corporate or project finance (work experience or extensive coursework)
  • Experience in due diligence process, analyzing and providing recommendations based on vast amounts of financial information.
  • Strong analytical skills including proven, multi-year experience in financial modeling.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communications
  • Ability to synthesize and articulate complex thinking into visual representations and structures to be shared with stakeholders with various degrees of technical prowess.
  • Proven experience working with senior managers in strategy and execution.
  • Ability to make connections with and develop effective relationships at all levels.
  • Authentic relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and values of Opportunity International

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to 30% international and domestic travel.
