Regional field digital communications manager M/F At Doctors Without Borders


The Regional Digital Field Manager (RFDM) is responsible for implementing regional digital activities and strategies for MSF accounts and audiences in West and Central Africa. This role proposes content to the regional
communications manager based on MSF operational priorities in the field and identified target audiences.

The RFDM will support the regional communications manager, communications managers and agents in the field in terms of digital distribution strategies, content production, monitoring
as well as training related to the production of digital and multimedia content. . He/she will assume
the responsibilities of the Regional Communications Manager as requested. The RFDM will participate in the production of an annual digital communications budget to support pre-agreed communications priorities for specific initiatives.

Mission

Develop digital strategies for the West and Central Africa region (30%)

• Develop a digital communications strategy for the region;
• Develop an audience analysis and offer relevant content based on the identified target audiences;
• Develop digital action plans based on projects and specific needs throughout the year.
• Actively participate in the MSF international working group on digital communication (DWG).
• Act as the digital communications focal point for the West and Central Africa region.
• Act as focal point for managing MSF’s digital footprint in the region.
• Support and propose specific assessments related to digital communication in each country,
• Identify the needs of field teams proactively

Implement the digital strategy for MSF regional accounts in West and Central Africa (30%)

• Manage the MSF West and Central Africa Twitter account,
• Manage the MSF West and Central Africa presence on Facebook,
• Manage the MSF Africa Instagram account in coordination with other MSF regional hubs in Africa.
• Ensure content quality control on MSF West and Central Africa digital channels.
• Adapt and personalize MSF communication content for digital channels and regional audiences.
• Manage the digital distribution of communication initiatives on MSF channels and manage the geo-targeting of posts,

•Design and implement boosted posts, specific paid campaigns and/or other advertising,
•Support the implementation of communications initiatives and campaigns to support
operational messages and coordinate publications with the various stakeholders of the MSF network.
• Engage with journalists and regional stakeholders and partners via regional digital channels.

Monitoring and listening on social networks 20%

• Monitor relevant social media accounts in the region daily and upon request, in order to evaluate, promote and protect MSF’s reputation and principles.
• Map influential social media accounts in West and Central Africa for potential influencer engagement opportunities.
• Build and verify regular monitoring dashboards for the region using different monitoring tools such as Talkwalker, CrowdTangle and Tweetdeck.
• Build and verify crisis monitoring dashboards specific to the region using monitoring tools.
• Organize briefings and training for communication teams in the field around monitoring tools.

Production of multimedia content to support communication teams in the field (10%)

• Train communications resources in the field in creating content for social media,
managing social media and strengthening digital communities.
• Provide technical support on production and distribution strategies for multimedia content.
• Manage work with consultants such as photographers and videographers through to final products.
• Develop a network of social media ambassadors, in collaboration with the manager and field communications officers and operations/program teams.
• Collect operational updates from MSF projects in the region and share them with relevant stakeholders.
• Identify channels and platforms for disseminating operational updates.
• Maintain a list of field videographers and photographers in the area.

Reports (10%)

• Report on the results of our digital engagements on a monthly basis as well as
important discussions of the MSF Digital Working Group.
• Produce a monthly dashboard of digital reports
• Contribute to the intersectional communication Sitrep with the regional communication manager.
• Identify case studies, evaluate them and disseminate them.

Professional skills

▪ 3 years of relevant prior experience – University degree or equivalent in a relevant field
such as strategic communications, political science, international relations or journalism.
▪ Fluency in English AND French
▪ Familiarity with MS Office, online communication tools and social media.
▪ In-depth knowledge and understanding of politics and socio-economic trends in
the region.
▪ Familiarity with video editing tools (Adobe Premier Pro / Final Cut Pro)

Job specifics

  • 1 year full-time fixed-term contract with possibility of renewal
  • Position based in Dakar with travel as needed
