About MAG:

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is an international humanitarian organisation based in Manchester, UK, and working in 32 countries. We remove landmines and unexploded ordnance to release safe and productive land for communities, and work to reduce the threat of armed violence by supporting governments to safely manage weapons and ammunition. In 1997, MAG was a co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for our work campaigning for the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

About the Caricom programme:

In the Caribbean region, MAG together with IMPACS is building on various assessments already undertaken in the region to provide targeted assistance to states with regard to weapons and ammunition management, policy and advocacy support, and engagement with a wide range of other partners. This innovative programme focuses on safety, security and sustainability, ultimately helping to create the conditions for peace and sustainable development.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and play a key role in the development of the MAG Caricom programme. Reporting to the Regional Programme Manager, the Programme Officer will have responsibilities for leading on and managing the process of proposal development, report writing, grant management and assisting the Programme Officer to meet contractual requirements. You will work closely with both UK colleagues in Manchester and the Regional Programme Manager, managing and coordinating programme information and data to accurately draft reports and proposals. You will also work closely with the Country Director to create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including donors, partners and other parties as required.

About you:

The successful candidate should have experience working overseas on development/ humanitarian projects and will be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimum supervision. They will have proven experience in developing donor proposal and high-quality donor reporting as well as report writing and knowledge of budgetary requirements and how to build a budget for a project delivery. Research skills are essential to the success of this role as is the ability to work in dynamic teams of national and international staff. Excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills are a requirement. Fluent English language skills are essential for this role, advanced proficiency in French would be seen as advantageous but not required.

Experience of Humanitarian Mine Action and working in the Caribbean is desirable for this role but not essential. As is knowledge of relevant institutional donors, legal issues in relation to contracts and charity and company law and knowledge of Physical Security and Stockpile Management (PSSM).
