Background
MNC03 is the country department managing the Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti country programs. The WBG is a major development partner for all three countries. A rich program of knowledge and analytical work underpins our engagement in all three countries. In Egypt, the Country Partnership Framework (FY23-27) draws upon the recently finalized SCD, CPSD and the CCDR under preparation. It will support the transformation of Egypt’s growth model towards greater inclusion and sustainability by fostering private investment, human development, and resilience. There is a strong emphasis on policy dialogue in many different areas, including macroeconomic, energy, business environment, regional development, education, health, agriculture, social protection, and transport. The current portfolio is over $6.4 bn. In Yemen, IDA is embarked upon an innovative engagement in a country in conflict, pushing the boundaries of development. Over the past year, more than $1 billion in IDA grants have been provided to help preserve human and development assets in the country. The Country Engagement Note (CEN) provides a framework for our engagement. In Djibouti, the IDA-19 supported by significant leveraging of grant resources provided financing for important development projects. There is a growing program to address social vulnerabilities and support enhanced governance.
