NRC is an independent humanitarian organization that helps people in need. We have a team of 15,000 humanitarian workers deployed in 40 countries. We have been in Venezuela since 2005. We start by helping Colombian refugees. In 2019 we expanded our work to also respond to the needs of Venezuelans with needs. We work in five areas of action: education; water, sanitation and hygiene ( ASH ); food security and livelihoods ( LFS ); protection against violence and information, guidance and legal assistance ( ICLA ). We support communities in the states of Bolívar, Zulia and Táchira and we begin to expand our operations also to Apure. In the framework of this expansion, NRC recruits a Logistics Assistant to support its operations.
The objective of the position is to provide logistical support services in the assigned Office, following the NRC policies, rules and procedures.
Specific responsibilities:
one. Support the Logistics Team Leader in the management (planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation) of Purchase and Contracting Procedures assigned in the Office, according to active projects.
2. Participate and support program personnel in the preparation of activities to be carried out in the area to ensure the provision of logistics elements.
3. Manage the shipment of merchandise using the shipping platform chosen by the NRC and track shipments to their destination when required.
4. Keep the inventory of the equipment, furniture and belongings of the offices, warehouses and guest houses updated, and make necessary arrangements that guarantee their correct operation.
5. Support the delivery, registration and monitoring of ICT equipment and visibility to area personnel according to internal procedures.
6. Support the management of inventory entries and exits in the NRC warehouse assigned for assets and other new stocks of office or program material
7. Manage transportation requests for office staff based on current transportation service contracts and existing official vehicles.
8. Keep the function management and monitoring tools updated: ex. List of suppliers, follow-ups of contracts or processes.
9. Support, according to the delegation of his superior, in the attention of audits in his areas of competence.
10. Manage the vehicle fleet and fuel supply, ensuring the monthly report of this function according to the regulations of the Logistics Handbook.
eleven. Support the socialization processes of the Logistics Manual, and its annexes.
12. Promote the participation of workers in the framework of emergency assistance and support for durable solutions from the Logistics function and all phases of projects, as part of Safe and Inclusive Programming (PSI).
13. The other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor in fulfilling the objectives of the position.
Qualifications
Generic professional skills:
• Higher University Technician or higher educational level.
• Desirable verbal and written fluidity in the English language.
Context Competences / Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Demonstrable experience of / in:
• Minimum 1 year of proven experience in a similar responsibility.
• Writing reports.
• Knowledge in Supply Management – Supply Chains, Merchandise transport management nationally and internationally, warehouse and warehouse management.
• Mastery in the handling of office tools relevant to function management.
• Previous experience in logistics-related issues is positively valued in agencies of the United Nations system, the Red Cross movement or other international or national humanitarian organizations.
• Availability to travel to states where NRC has a presence and spend the night on the ground
