WHAT DO WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for nearly 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and livelihoods. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – more than 2,500 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main missions of the internship:

  • Assist the Geographic Manager, the Desk Programs Referent as well as the Accountability and Donor Development Officer following the missions of Burkina Faso, Togo-Benin, Chad-Cameroon, Mali and Niger in the execution of the necessary administrative tasks in the management of missions and programs, and in the operational monitoring of programs implemented in the field.
  • Provide support to mission teams as a whole.

Main objectives of the internship:

  • Discover the headquarters of an NGO and understand the relationship between the headquarters and the field;
  • Discover the different programs and areas of expertise of Solidarites International;
  • Discover the humanitarian and geopolitical context of the areas concerned;
  • Discover the different professions in the field;
  • Understand how a mission works and its constraints;
  • Understand the relationships between different humanitarian actors;
  • Know the specific expectations of donors;
  • Put into practice project monitoring and financing cycle management;
  • Be in direct contact with the field through expatriate staff;
  • Discover the strategy of an NGO.

Main tasks :

  • Update monthly tools (program sheets, operational maps, etc.);
  • Under the supervision of the Program Manager and CRDB, monitor missions and field requests;
  • Participate in the review of project proposals and reports intended for donors, and exercise a critical eye;
  • Participate in the review of donor contracts and partnership agreements;
  • Ensure compliance with reporting deadlines imposed by donors via retro-scheduling of reports related to current projects;
  • Manage the paper and electronic archiving (jointly with the Desk support assistant) of documents concerning missions;
  • Participate in various briefings and debriefings, in conjunction with RP and CRDB, of expatriates going on mission;
  • Contribute to expatriate briefings;
  • Participate in weekly and monthly Desk meetings;
  • In collaboration with the other assistants, tidy up and reorganize the network;
  • Maintain contact with the missions in the absence of those responsible;
  • Ensure the translation of various documents (English → French / French → English);
  • Contribute to certain programmatic or technical projects.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Higher education (bac +5 level) preferably focused on project management and/or humanitarian work, political science or international relations, preferably with knowledge of water issues, food security or rehabilitation ;
  • Real interest and motivation for the associative and humanitarian sector – desire to go into the field in the short term;
  • International work experience preferred;
  • Writing, synthesis and spelling skills;
  • Critical and analytical skills, autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, organization, efficiency, significant work capacity and ability to work under pressure;
  • Computers: Windows (Word, Excel, Power Point); Internet and email (Outlook)
  • French, fluent English

IF WILL OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Clichy Town Hall metro station
  • Intern with mandatory internship agreement.
  • Bonus: 4.90 euros/hour
  • The bonus is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of attendance over the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
  • Public transport covered at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
  • Restaurant tickets at €8.90/effective day of training, with 60% participation from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
