The World Food Program ( PMA ) is the largest humanitarian agency to fight hunger in the world. On average, WFP reaches more than 90 million people with food aid each year in 80 countries. Some 13,500 people work for the organization, most in remote areas, serving directly the most vulnerable.

In Colombia, the support that WFP provides to the national government responds to the Sustainable Development Goals ( ODS ) 2 and 17 using innovative tools such as money transfers and local food purchases through farmers’ associations. WFP activities in Colombia focus on the most vulnerable populations, including victims of violence, marginalized communities, and ethnic groups. The goal is to rebuild and strengthen their livelihoods, ensuring that they have adequate access at all times to nutritious and diverse diets and increasing their ability to recover and adapt to climate changes. This is done progressively through the development of the capacities of local authorities to implement responsible programs that contribute to reducing food insecurity and malnutrition.

Internships at WFP offer students the opportunity to gain experience at the United Nations and, more specifically, at the World Food Program. It also provides an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience in an international professional environment and provides exposure to a truly global humanitarian organization.
