ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:

The World Food Program ( PMA ) is the largest humanitarian agency to fight hunger in the world. On average, WFP reaches more than 90 million people with food aid each year in 80 countries. Some 13,500 people work for the organization, most in remote areas, serving directly the most vulnerable.

In Colombia, the support that WFP provides to the national government responds to the Sustainable Development Goals ( ODS ) 2 and 17 using innovative tools such as money transfers and local food purchases through farmers’ associations. WFP activities in Colombia focus on the most vulnerable populations, including victims of violence, marginalized communities, and ethnic groups. The goal is to rebuild and strengthen their livelihoods, ensuring that they have adequate access at all times to nutritious and diverse diets and increasing their ability to recover and adapt to climate changes.This is done progressively through the development of the capacities of local authorities to implement responsible programs that contribute to reducing food insecurity and malnutrition.

Internships at WFP offer students the opportunity to gain experience at the United Nations and, more specifically, at the World Food Program. It also provides an opportunity for students to gain valuable work experience in an international professional environment and provides exposure to a truly global humanitarian organization.

In the framework of the new TEC strategy aimed at “ improving the IT-business relationship and creating and maximizing the value, while optimizing costs and increasing the efficiency of WFP’s digital solutions to support its business processes at the corporate and field level ”, it is required to document operational processes, create process maps and lay the groundwork for analyzing, redesigning, and improving processes, increasing efficiency, and saving costs.

POSITION PROPOSITION:

The TEC Unit is responsible for increasing the efficiency of the WFP’s digital solutions and therefore requires drawing up maps of current operating processes that allow the development of improvement processes, optimizing costs and improving responsiveness to the needs of the country office, aligning them with organizational, computer security and information policies and standards

The BPM intern will be under the supervision of the IT Solutions Associate and will work closely with the focal points of the processes of the different units.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Identify office processes
  •  Support the creation of the office operating macro processes map that shows the operational and data flow and the interrelation between the different units and processes
  •  Description of prioritized processes
  •  Review of process OPS
  •  Identification of process tasks
  •  Set the times dedicated to each activity
  •  Determine the people involved in the processes
  •  Process flow diagrams
  •  Support other activities inherent to the position that are received by designation of your command line.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE STANDING MINIMUMS:

Training:

Candidates must be enrolled in an undergraduate program ( at least seventh semester ) or recognized university graduate in Industrial or related Engineering.

New graduates ( up to 12 months ) are eligible to apply.

Desirable Experience and Knowledge:

Process modeling experience

Advanced knowledge in ISO 9001 and systems analysis

Knowledge in process management tools

Knowledge in Microsoft Visio, Word and Excel

Knowledge in standardization and standardization of processes

Positive attitude and proactivity to face challenges.
