The Maradi and Zinder regions of Niger often face complex humanitarian challenges due to widespread poverty, food insecurity, and, nutritional crises and vulnerability to climate change and natural disasters, as well as pressure from population movements, including refugees and internally displaced persons. As of August 2023, the Maradi region had 55,131 refugees and 16,307 internally displaced persons.
UNICEF provides multisectoral responses to people affected by crises affecting Niger and aims to strengthen its capacity and effectiveness in responding to emergencies, but also the link between humanitarian interventions and resilience building programs. This response is also made through the RRM ( Rapid Response Mechanism ), which is a rapid response mechanism, integrated into the humanitarian framework, and which aims to provide a first response to the urgent needs of people affected by a humanitarian shock linked to an armed conflict, a natural disaster or an epidemic. The management of’information is at the heart of the’exchange of’information between the partners of’execution in the field and the teams that coordinate the entire response. ’UNICEF recruits, therefore a (e) Administrator(trice) Responsible(e) for the Management of’Information.
How can you make a difference ?
Under the supervision of the monitoring and evaluation officer and the Monitoring Specialist ( HPM ) as second supervisor, the/the candidates ( es ) will be responsible for managing information on the situation of children and on the interventions supported by UNICEF in the regions of Maradi and Zinder.

Main responsibilities, activities and tasks :
Data collection, compilation and analysis
- Proactively gather information from sector partners, government authorities and local civil society organisations, and communities ;
- Support the development, revision and implementation of’information (GI) management tools of’UNICEF and inter-agencies ;
- Ensure uniformity of data collection between different sources, such as the 5Ws matrix, and the collection of sectoral data ;
- Ensure the quality of data collection.
Visualizing data
- Provide clear and concise data visualization products (e.g., maps, dashboards, infographics, and financial/resource analyses) to operational managers and technical partners of’UNICEF; and ;
- Perform mapping exercises using 5W matrices, needs and gap analyzes, online mapping of services and infrastructure ;
- Respond to requests for data visualization, to support advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
Exchange and dissemination of information
- Support the development of effective methods and platforms to standardize and share information, among others the RRM and RapidPro platforms ;
- Develop and maintain catalogs of IM products and data, including maps, assessments and the https://www.humanitarianresponse.info/ page ;
- Collaborating with OCHA, the Mechanism for Rapid Response and’ other focal points of the Geographic Information System (GIS) on the’ exchange of information from other sectors to inform the decisions of’UNICEF on’intervention and preparedness.
Capacity building
- Train the partners of’UNICEF on data collection and reporting and’ data analysis ;
- Strengthen the capacities of partners in the management of’information, assessments and coordination of’emergency responses ;
- Participate in GO RRM focus group meetings and other regional meetings on data management ;
- S’ perform other tasks assigned to it.
As a defender for each child, you will need to have …
- Have a university degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, accounting or a related technical discipline ;
- At least one year of relevant professional experience in the field of data management and’analysis systems and’information ;
- Strong knowledge of KOBO ToolBox, QGIS/ArcGIS, POWER BI and Python. Knowledge of the Django framework and R/Shiny is an asset ;
- Knowledge of the RapidPro platform and that of the management of the RRM is an asset.
- Proven skills in GIS, and a proven understanding of the theory of relational data ;
- Proven technical expertise for data capture and storage management,’analysis of various data sets and presentation of’ information in tables, graphs, maps, etc, and understandable reports ;
- Ability to maintain and manage the content of’a website ;
- L’ work experience in developing countries and/or knowledge of’ emergency situations are considered an asset.
- Perfect mastery of French ; mastery of English’ and/or’a local language is an asset.

Location and duration of the contract
The contract is of a temporary duration of 364 days. The/candidate(e) recruited(e) will be based(e) in Maradi.
Remuneration
The position is classified as a National Professional (NO) at NOA on the United Nations System pay grid.
