Head of Humanitarian Research Initiatives At ELRHA


Elrha is a global organisation that finds solutions to complex humanitarian problems through research and innovation. As the Head of Humanitarian Research Initiatives, you will play a pivotal role in shaping impactful research strategies and driving forward initiatives to improve humanitarian practices globally.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual who can lead the development of the next phase of the Research for Health in Humanitarian Crises (R2HC) programme as well as advance our work to realise the potential of an integrated approach to research and innovation within the humanitarian ecosystem.

  • Are you a research professional with a deep understanding of the humanitarian health sector?
  • Are you committed to improving humanitarian outcomes with a strong conviction that research and innovation should be at the centre of efforts to improve humanitarian effectiveness?
  • Could you oversee a globally recognised research programme, and develop new initiatives to improve humanitarian response?

This is a senior role which requires excellent leadership skills, strategic thinking, agile programme management and the ability to foster collaborations with key stakeholders in the humanitarian sector and presents an opportunity to advance humanitarian efforts to address global challenges through research and innovation.

Your application will need to demonstrate:

  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field such as humanitarian studies, international development, social sciences, or a related discipline.
  • Experience of working with academics and humanitarian practitioners and building strong networks.
  • Experience of humanitarian health research and practice with a good understanding of research needs for the humanitarian sector and uptake strategies
  • Excellent people and programme management skills
  • Proven track record of securing funding for research initiatives from diverse sources.
