John Pomfrey, 60, husband to Christiana has said he had no idea his wife was faking blindness for 15 years just to scam £1 Million in benefits.
Christiana, 65, lied that she was totally blind and wheelchair-bound but she was caught by surveillance driving, going for a walk unaided while reading a newspaper and picking her grandchildren from school.
Over a period between 2005 and last January, thrice married Pomfrey, a former shop assistant said it took her up to 10 minutes to walk a yard, was unable to wash or dress herself and needed carers to look after her 24 hours a day.
The 65-year-old also made benefit claims using a house she no longer lived in, and even claimed disability benefits in the name of her ex-husband’s first wife who died in a road accident in 1979.

She was jailed for three years and eight months after pleading guilty to multiple counts of fraud, false accounting and making or supplying articles for use in frauds.
Her husband, Mr Pomfrey denied fact that he was aware of his wives lies.
“People think I must have known what she was up to and where all the money went, but the answer to both is I don’t have a clue. She has destroyed my life and I cannot forgive her. She is the craftiest woman I have ever known.” He told Daily Mail.
