Job Purpose

The Finance & Grants Officer plays a central role in ensuring that all financial activities related to EE’s grants comply with donor requirements and the organization’s internal policies. Stationed in Gaziantep and with responsibilities extending to operations within Turkey and Syria, this position aids in the precise, transparent, and consistent handling of grant-related finances, safeguarding EE’s financial integrity while ensuring optimal use of resources for its humanitarian mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Key Responsibility 1: Grants Financial Management

  1. Assist in the review and monitoring of grant budgets, ensuring they align with donor agreements and EE’s financial guidelines.
  2. Track grant expenditures against budgets, flagging any discrepancies or concerns for further investigation.
  3. Help prepare and update grant financial forecasts, considering changes in programmatic needs and external factors.

Key Responsibility 2: Compliance Assurance

  1. Support the review and implementation of financial transactions (e.g., expenses, transfers, etc.), ensuring they adhere to donor-specific guidelines and EE’s internal policies.
  2. Contribute to the maintenance and updates of EE’s grant compliance documentation, ensuring staff access to up-to-date information on financial compliance requirements.
  3. Assist in the regular review and assessment of grant compliance risks and provide suggestions for risk mitigation.

Key Responsibility 3: Reporting Support

  1. Assist in drafting financial reports for donors, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  2. Contribute to the compilation and organization of financial evidence and documentation required for donor audits and reviews.
  3. Coordinate with program teams to align financial and narrative reports, ensuring cohesion and accuracy.

Key Responsibility 4: Capacity Building Assistance

  1. Participate in internal training sessions on grant compliance and financial management, offering insights and clarifications as needed.
  2. Contribute to the creation of user-friendly resources and tools to simplify and standardize grant financial processes across EE.
  3. Stay informed on evolving donor requirements and share relevant updates with the finance and program teams.

Key Responsibility 5: Inter-departmental Collaboration

  1. Collaborate with the program teams during grant proposal development, offering guidance on budget formulation and cost-effectiveness.
  2. Offer support during donor meetings and workshops, ensuring financial data is presented clearly and accurately.
  3. Facilitate communication between the finance department and other EE units on matters related to grant finances.

Note: the above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.

Qualification (Education/Work Experience/Languages)

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • Two years at least of the same work experience
  • Good Command of the English Language (4 skills: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing).
  • Good Command of the Arabic Language (4 skills: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing).

Desirable:

  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or any related field.
  • Four years at least of work experience.
  • Good Command of the Turkish Language (4 skills: Listening – Speaking – Reading – Writing).
  • Turkish Nationals
