We are seeking a Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day accounting needs of the Ukraine office. This role will provide administrative and financial processing to ensure the completion of award accounting following the funder’s directive.

The Finance Assistant will be a member of the finance team and report to the Finance Manager.

Duty Station: Office based in Kyiv, Ukraine

Contract Duration: 6 months with probable extension

The Challenge

  • Prepare payment requests and supporting documentation daily for the Ukraine projects.
  • Check invoices and other financial documentation to ensure all payments meet the requirements of National Law.
  • Engage with authorities or other stakeholders to ensure GRC’s tax requirements.
  • Ensure payments have all supporting documentation and are compliant with internal financial procedures and donor regulations.
  • Support the Project Administrator in linking documents on the cash sheet.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding accounting documents.
  • Upload documents to Signing Hub on a daily basis and support all steps of obtaining signatures and approvals.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Manager

Your Background

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience working in a nonprofit or an international development sector organisation with an emphasis on reconciliation and financial reporting required.
  • Knowledge of Ukrainian accounting processes and principles.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with enterprise-level non-profit accounting software preferably QuickBooks.
  • General knowledge of not-for-profit Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Standards.
  • Ability to gather financial data and accurately create spreadsheets and financial reports.
  • Well-organized and able to handle multi-task in a busy office environment.
  • Ability to maintain stable and helpful performance under difficult circumstances, operating comfortably in an uncertain environment.
  • Willingness to take advantage of opportunities to avoid or solve problems.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and English, written and spoken skills.
