Finance and Administration Agent, Burundi ( Early Recruitment ) At IMPACT Transforming Natural Resource Management

Overview

IMPACT is looking for a ( e ) Finance and administration officer for a planned four-year project aimed at contributing to peace and security while improving mining governance in the Great Lakes region of Africa.

Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager in Burundi and under the general supervision of the Grant Manager in Côte-d’Ivoire, the finance and administration officer will have to supervise the finances and as well as the administrative tasks of the organization to ensure that the financial rules of the lessor and the organization are respected as well as the legal and administrative framework in Burundi.

This position will be based in Bujumbura, Burundi. This position depends on the successful award of the project and the approval by the lessor of the proposed candidate.

Main responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Finance and Administration Agent are listed below. He or she could also be asked for other tasks.

Finance and accounting :

  • Perform accounting entries in the Sage Intact software
  • Ensure control of the quality of the organization’s transactions and financial process
  • Monitor cash flows and prepare fund requests as a team
  • Responsible for managing accounts receivable and payable
  • Monitor the taxes payable ( VAT ) and reimbursements according to the legal framework in Burundi
  • Ensure the monthly closing of accounts
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Ensure proper classification of accounting documents on the server
  • Support the Grant Manager during financial audits

Administration :

  • Ensure the legal and administrative compliance of the various contracts ( work, consultancy, supplier )
  • Management of organizational inventories in Burundi
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the office and equipment
  • Ensure that the organization complies with the level of the legal framework in Burundi

Profile sought

Education

  • Training: License or Bac + 3 in Accounting, Finance or equivalent

Experience

  • Experience required: at least 5 years in a similar position
  • Work experience in a non-profit organization

Knowledge

  • Excellent control of tax and accounting standards
  • Excellent knowledge of international donor procedures ( World Case Canada, European Union, United Nations, USAID, GIZ, etc. )
  • Knowledge of the legal framework of NGOs in Burundi

Technical skills

  • Excel software ( Excellent control )
  • Accounting software ( Sage Intact an asset )
  • Outlook, Word, internet

Key skills

  • Have a spirit of initiative, discretion, adaptation to any situation, and a good sense of observation
  • Rigor and concern for accuracy, precision and compliance with standards
  • Integrity and great sense of ethics
  • Perfect command of French; knowledge of English is essential
