WHAT DO WE DO …

SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, for more than 40 years, has provided relief to populations victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters by responding to vital needs, drinking, eating and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and promotion hygiene but also in the essential aspect of food security and means of existence. Present in around twenty countries, the SI teams – 2,000 people in total made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main objective :

The regional Ethics and Compliance expert provides countries under his supervision with independent and objective assessment and support on issues related to anti-abuse, internal audit, compliance, management of risks and external audit linked to specific donors.

He/she supervises the countries of the office to which he/she is assigned (Afghanistan, Myanmar, South Sudan and Nigeria)

Main responsibilities and activities:

  • Conduct organizational or ad hoc internal audits based on a risk approach.
  • Coordinate and support country teams in responding to external audits in the field.
  • Strengthen prevention strategies, particularly by raising awareness of abusive behavior.
  • Monitor and support reporting of allegations to ensure appropriate treatment.
  • Conduct or contribute to administrative investigations, as appropriate.
  • Conduct or support due diligence exercises on previously identified local partners.
  • Ensure the recording of recommendations as well as regular monitoring of their implementation.
  • Play an active role in the identification, assessment and formalization of risks at the country level.
  • Ensure the functional management of Ethics & Compliance managers and coordinators in the countries.

The main challenges:

  • Integrate this new position into existing plans between countries, the regional unit and functional departments
  • Adjust your positioning between countries with and without local ethics and compliance resources
  • Manage priorities and adapt to unforeseen circumstances
  • Maintain consistent compliance standards and guidelines adapted to different contexts.

Priorities for the first 2/3 months:

  • Field visits according to the priorities defined by the Regional Director and by the annual internal audit plan.
  • Ensure follow-up of existing recommendations with the missions.
  • Follow up on notifications of allegations and conduct/contribute to associated investigations

YOUR PROFILE

Formation

  • Bachelor’s degree in auditing, social sciences, accounting, human rights or any other related field. Recognized certifications in internal auditing are appreciated.

Experience

  • At least 4 years’ experience in internal and external auditing.
  • Experience in handling allegations of abuse and conducting administrative investigations.
  • Experience in the INGO and/or grant-receiving organization sector.
  • Experience working with SI (or a similar organization) would be an asset.

Specific skills and experience:

  • Ability to make work and expected results accessible to non-technical colleagues.
  • Have demonstrated great cultural sensitivity and a great capacity for adaptation.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Diplomacy and sense of coordination (team spirit)
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to assess challenges and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and prioritization skills, and the ability to multi-task.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Autonomy & curiosity.
  • Knowledge of computers with very good command of the MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of software such as SAGA, HOMERE, Link is a plus.

Language :

  • Fluency in English and French, written and oral

IF WILL OFFER YOU THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS

  • Position based at the Solidarités International headquarters in Clichy la Garenne (Metro Mairie de Clichy) with frequent field deployments (50%).
  • Fixed-term contract of 7 months, executive status. Contract until December 31, 2024_ Probable renewal possibilities.
  • Gross monthly salary of: €3,183 or €3,316 depending on the headquarters salary scale
  • Possibility of working from home: 4 or 12 days of teleworking or 100% teleworking with 3 mandatory days per month at headquarters (TT package paid monthly).
  • Leave: 2.0833 CP / month and 1 day of RTT / full month of work
  • Mutual health insurance (80%), restaurant tickets (60%), Transport Île de France (50%) covered by the association
  • Insurance covered during field trips and 1 day of recovery per weekend spent on mission.
