Economist/Senior Economist (Montenegro) – EURSE, Washington DC, United States At International Monetary Fund (IMF)

Work for the IMF. Work for the World.

The European Department, in its Southeastern 1 (SE) Unit, has an opening for a desk economist for Montenegro. This assignment will be paired with another country assignment in the future. Montenegro is a small unilaterally euroized economy. It is a high-intensity surveillance country with a myriad of economic and financial issues to tackle, in a geopolitically complex neighborhood. The successful candidate will be a highly versatile economist, expected to contribute to all policy areas as a member of team. He/she will be expected to take the lead on the financial sector (including financial stability, macro prudential policies, aspects of crypto asset regulation), as well as on structural and labor market issues. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the department’s broader analytical work and/or one-off missions to other countries, time permitting.

Qualifications

In addition to the qualifications set forth in the job standards, the successful candidate should have proven analytical and drafting skills, strong knowledge of Fund policies and procedures, strong organizational skills, adaptability to meet tight deadlines, and strong interpersonal and communications skills to foster effective work relations with the authorities and work collaboratively in a team environment.
