Mission

Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is one of the world’s largest medical emergency aid organizations and is active wherever human life is threatened. Armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics and natural disasters or exclusion from the health system are among the reasons for our operations.

MSF is independent of all political, religious or military powers and acts impartially, taking into account medical needs. Our independence is ensured by the fact that 96 percent of our income comes from private donations.

Area of ​​responsibility

The Door-to-Door (D2D) team leader is part of the long-term donor acquisition team, which is central to fundraising and is part of the Communications and Fundraising department. He/she reports hierarchically to the Program Officer for German-speaking Switzerland. His/her job is to acquire new D2D long-term donors and to ensure the smooth running of D2D campaigns on site by putting together motivated teams and organizing the information stands efficiently. His/her responsibility lies in achieving quantitative and qualitative goals.

  • In cooperation with the supervisor:
    • In collaboration with the supervisor: o Participation in the strategy reflection on D2D campaigns
    • Assist in the creation of weekly and monthly planning for the teams
    • Support in recruiting fundraisers in German-speaking Switzerland
    • Ensuring the achievement of acquisition goals
    • Assistance in developing and implementing the individual training strategy
    • Support in the implementation of the operational fundraising strategy to achieve quantitative and qualitative KPIs
    • Assistance in the allocation of areas for fundraisers
  • Independent – ​​Acquisition of regular donors:
    • Function as first point of contact for local authorities and police
    • Information about the work of Doctors Without Borders
    • Acquisition of new regular donors via direct debit (LSV)
    • Role model for the team regarding D2D fundraising work
    • Telephone follow-up of incompletely filled out LSV forms according to internal procedures
  • Independent – ​​team management and performance monitoring o Control and monitoring of the performance of the teams on site
    • Ensuring team cohesion and ongoing training of team members
    • Motivation of D2D fundraisers: Motivational conversations, personal feedback, encouragement, regular updates on goals and performance, etc.
    • Ensuring that work begins and ends on time; liaising with the Program Officer for German-speaking Switzerland in the event of early termination
    • Management of the scheduled daily routine and breaks of the D2D fundraisers at the workplace
    • Ongoing feedback on the performance, motivation and behavior of each D2D fundraising employee to the German-speaking Switzerland Program Officer
    • First point of contact for sick notes and vacation requests
    • Ensuring compliance with quality standards by all team members
    • Use of D2D tools in line with the training strategy to ensure ongoing training of D2D fundraisers through coaching and high-quality support in collaboration with the Program Officer German-speaking Switzerland
    • Ensuring the quality of materials from D2D fundraisers
    • Immediate reporting of any misconduct to the Program Officer German-speaking Switzerland
    • Ensuring LSV quality by checking and documenting the quality of all donation forms
    • Forwarding the donation forms to the LSV processing department
    • Reporting on overall and individual team member performance.
    • Update the area map and inform the German-speaking Swiss Program Officer in good time before changing areas.
  • Collaboration with logistics and administration assistance
    • Create a list of all D2D working materials and closely monitor them before, during and after the campaign
    • Maintaining inventory and reporting any additional needs in a timely manner
    • Ensure that the work materials required by the teams (forms, ReAktion magazine, T-shirts, information material, annual reports, maps, etc.) are always available to the fundraiser in sufficient quantities.
    • Preparing the area maps before each campaign

Other tasks

  • Participation in department and team meetings
  • Telephone availability at any time on the agreed working days
  • Daily reporting on daily performance according to agreed format

Training

  • Training in sales/marketing is a plus
  • Training in human resources is a plus
  • Management training is a plus

Experience

  • Professional experience in D2D fundraising
  • At least two years of professional experience in D2D fundraising or a comparable field
  • Professional experience in management
  • in-depth knowledge of the work of Doctors Without Borders

Languages

  • German/Swiss German: Native speaker
  • French and/or English: good written and spoken knowledge

Our internship conditions

  • Fixed-term contract depending on the duration of the campaign (maximum 7 months), 100%.
  • Workplace: Zurich
  • Ideal start date: as soon as possible
  • Monthly gross salary (100%): between CHF 6,108.- and CHF 7,730.- (salary according to experience and internal salary scheme)
