Donor Engagement Specialist At Opportunity International


The Donor Engagement Specialist cultivates relationships with probable donors and donors to raise funds to achieve the mission of Opportunity International. The role will utilize a combination of communication and solicitation strategies to grow the donor portfolio. This role contributes to the broader Philanthropy fundraising and recruitment and cultivation of donors.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Transform event attendees and participants into committed donors.
  • Implement a communications and strategic gift solicitation plan to grow and sustain donor relationships within an assigned portfolio of prospects and donors.
  • Execute effective communication and solicitation activities for high-potential mid-mass donor market segments.
  • Provide direction for donor relations programs including donor stewardship, mid and mid-mass communications, giving plans, the annual sequencing calendar, and leads generated from events, online, etc.
  • Work effectively with major gifts and marketing departments to increase annual giving participation in all segments.
  • Help build strategies for encouraging donors to move to higher giving levels.
  • Use the annual goals to manage the probable donor pool and establish regular communications using outlined giving outcomes.
  • Coordinate annual giving with specialty constituents.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience engaging with donors and fundraising by phone/email & proposals/grants with demonstrated achievement of revenue goals.
  • Understanding database management, moves, management, and donor relations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is essential; experience using Microsoft CRM or comparable fundraising database software is preferred.
  • Ability to listen carefully to and understand donor’s needs and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals.
  • Demonstrated passion for transformative work, humility, high integrity, and mission-driven with an ability to inspire others.
  • Goal-oriented, self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to advancing the mission and values of Opportunity International.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Up to 10% travel both domestically and internationally.
