Chapter Training Coordinator At Women in Global Health


This position is a support role for the Movement Building Team (MBT) in WGH, which is tasked with ensuring strategic support for the growth and evolution of the global movement. This role is specifically aimed at supporting the WGH global learning community, through the chapters, specifically Kenya, Nigeria, and India. As part of a program to drive individual empowerment through collective action, this role helps create conditions in which women can excel in leadership within the health sector. This role requires someone highly organised that can design and implement the rolling of training on feminist and transformative leadership, the gender continuum and intersectionality, training of trainers, initiating and providing support to an alumni network, and ensuring peer-to-peer, cross-country knowledge exchange over a 22-month period.

WGH is seeking a gender expert with experience in working in multilingual and multicultural environments.

Responsibilities

The Chapter Training Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of the following:

Technical support:

  • Design, coordinate, and implement training and training of trainers (TOT) on leadership for chapter members.
  • Building an alumni network across the WGH movement
  • Technical support to the Movement Building Team on issues concerning gender equity, feminist leadership, and intersectionality.
  • Technical support to the Global team on dynamics that support the evolution of the Movement towards gender equity in the health sector.
  • Prepare and support learning forums and Gender Transformative Global Health events as assigned by the Project Director

Monitoring and evaluation:

  • Develop/fine-tune monitoring, evaluation, and learning framework of all training in line with agreed activities.
  • Design and implement quantitative/qualitative assessments for training and other program activities.
  • Support the Project Director in the planning and reporting of the WIL KIN program.
  • Report back on activities in a manner that directly contributes to the WGH community of practice and an increased understanding of best GTLI (Gender transformative leadership and intersectionality) practices.

Strategy and planning:

  • Responsible for the strategic planning of associated program activities (all training, peer-to-peer events, alumni network, tool building, and publications)
  • Contribute to movement-building development, strategic thinking and activity roll-out as needed.

Knowledge building:

  • Develop key tools for all training, including handbooks, how-to guides, and other relevant tools.
  • Support the development of systems, processes, and approaches that continuously improve technical excellence and impact transformative approaches to women’s leadership.
  • Facilitate and support a learning and knowledge-sharing community of practice around gender-transformative practices within WGH and allies.
  • Contribute quality knowledge relevant to the women in leadership in the health sector.
  • Work closely with other technical specialists and WGH team members to integrate gender across WGH work.

Other:

  • Represent work being done in relevant internal and external forums.
  • Participate in other relevant events as assigned by the Director
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports highlighting lessons learned, key accomplishments and challenges.

Key relationships

This role sits in the Movement Building Team within the WGH Global team and reports to the director. The position is a full-time, remote (home-based), 22-month consultancy contract. Some paid travel may be required.

Experience and skills required

  • Education to degree level in relevant field (e.g. gender, public health, nursing, medicine, health, political science, sociology)
  • Over 6 years of relevant experience in working with diverse stakeholders across varied geographies and languages.
  • Proven experience in the design, delivery, and follow-up of training and tool development.
  • Proven experience in working in movement building and advocacy.
  • Proficient in English (written, spoken, and reading) obligatory
  • All other languages are a plus; French or Spanish is particularly desirable
  • Proficient IT skills in Word, Excel, PPT, Canva, AI tools, etc.

  • Preference for candidates living + or – 5 hours UTC.
