Job Title: Business Specialist

Employee Contract Type: Local – Fixed Term Employee (Fixed Term)

JOB PURPOSE
The position will provide strategic guidance and expert support for sustainable project development and implementation via developing training materials, conduct training for cooperatives and SMEs and providing mentoring and coaching under the Syria Response Strategy. The position will support to implementation of the livelihood and agricultural activities for host communities in Türkiye. The Business Specialist will be responsible for support overall project activities and for ensuring that providing coaching and mentoring to participants, which will require him/her to work constructively with colleagues across the project team. The Business Specialist will provide support according to the projects’ activities, S/He will be responsible for reporting, external stakeholder engagement, and providing support to the team in the project.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES

Program Management and Reporting
• The position is responsible for defining the approach to be implemented to realize the relevant project objectives.
• The position will be responsible for producing the weekly, monthly, quarterly consolidated Reports.
• Ensure implementing partner, community and stakeholders’ engagement in planning, designing and quality assurance of the project activities.
• Conduct periodic field visits to ensure planned activities are being implemented in a timely manner.
• When required, position is responsible for working with the MEAL Officer, Cash & Livelihood Coordinator and other Technical Specialists.

Technical Direction & People Management
• Provide technical assistance to the implementing partner in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the project activities.
• Assist in the conduct of assessments of the selected agriculture value chain production, in collaboration with Project Manager.
• Assists develop SOPs, processes and/or polices and tools.
• Identification of economic growth opportunities as well as strengthening the vision for SMEs and cooperatives.
• Design and implement capacity building initiatives on business management and related schemes to project beneficiaries
• Provide guidance, mentoring, coaching and assistance to key project actors in the areas of SMEs principles, business management and recommendations.

Networking and Liaison
• Coordinate in strategic networking with and in collaboration with the Projects Manager, the local governmental institutions and other relevant actors in Hatay and in livelihoods sector with a view to profiling WVS’s work in the sector.
• Establish mutually beneficial working relationships with strategic partners at the local and area level.
• Regular coordination with the Projects Manager.
• Identify market opportunities and assist key project actors in Hatay

Learning and Innovation
• Contribute to the livelihood sector specific and/or integrated research, market assessments and learning initiatives with a view to generating lessons and knowledge for program effectiveness.
• Contribute for generating innovations by working with the Projects Manager.

Others – duties as required by the direct supervisors

Required Professional Experience

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in SMEs consultation with reputed institutions
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing business development services, training, and/or technical assistance to SMEs and/or companies
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in undertaking similar assignment and standardized expertise.
• Understand the business development services, technical assistance and SMEs market context
• Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts with limited resources
• Strong understanding of livelihood and SME and cooperative context in Hatay
• Excellent communication, negating and resource management skills.
• Ability to work with minimum supervision
• Commitment and ability to inspire others to World Vision Core Values, Vision and Mission Statement.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  • Bachelor’s degree is required in Economy/Business Administration/Agricultural Economics/Agribusiness Management or related field
  • Master’s degree is preferable
  • Training/ Coaching and/or monitoring experience and certification

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Experience engaging with private sector companies and local public institution within the Turkish context
  • Experience working with Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Chambers and relevant stakeholders

Language Requirements

  • Knowledge of Turkish is a must
  • Knowledge of Arabic is highly preferred
  • Excellent knowledge and communication skills in English is asset
