Founded in 1922, DanChurchAid (DCA) is a Danish rights-based non-governmental organization. Established in CAR since 2015, DCA provides assistance to the most deprived communities in conflict and post-conflict situations through its Humanitarian Action Program “Safer Communities”: education on the risks of Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW). ), Remnants and Explosives of War (REG); Reduction of Armed Violence (RVA) and peacebuilding & Psychosocial Support, Income Generating Activities (AGR); distribution of non-food and household goods (NFI), conditional and unconditional Cash (food coupons, etc.), distribution of seeds and tools, support to Civil Society organizations for their involvement in Security Sector Reform (RSS). The DCA Program in CAR is funded by DANIDA, the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund, Echo, the European Union; other financing is currently being negotiated.

DCA is looking for 01 Experienced Accountant for accounting management at the DCA coordination in Bangui.

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

DCA is looking for an Accounting Officer dedicated to ensuring the precise and complete management of accounting within the organization. The main mission of the successful candidate will be to work with Maconomy accounting software to guarantee the integrity of financial data. The candidate will lead the implementation of the SYCEBNL system and ensure its proper functioning within the mission.

ROLES & RESPONSABILITES :

  1. Advanced use of Maconomy:
    • Master the use of Maconomy accounting software.
    • Ensure regular updating of financial data in the system.
    • Lead the monthly account closing process in Maconomy.
    • Coordinate with colleagues to obtain and verify input data – cash books, allocation files, etc. necessary for timely closing**.**
    • Facilitate the implementation and proper functioning of Maconomy’s electronic archives.
  2. Accounting management :
    • Account for transactions in Maconomy.
    • Oversee daily accounting operations.
    • Check accounting entries, bank reconciliations.
    • Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
    • Investigate any differences identified and reflect adjustments in accounting.
    • Suggest improvements to the accounting process.
    • Check tax payments (IR/IS, IRL, CNSS, ACFPE, IRPP) and monitor their completion on time to avoid any penalties
  3. Implementation of the SYCEBNL system
    • Actively participate in the implementation of the SYCEBNL system.
    • Ensure a smooth and successful transition to the new system while maintaining Maconomy.
    • Ensure the appropriate integration of financial data into the SYCEBNL.
  4. Compliance and Audit:
    • Ensure compliance of accounting operations with DCA’s internal accounting standards and policies (Accounting Manual).
    • Cooperate with internal and external auditors during audits.
    • Ensure that accounting is correctly supported by the respective electronic archive documents.
  5. Formation et Support :
    • Train coordination and base staff members in the use of Maconomy and SYCEBNL rules.
    • Provide technical support to internal users of the software.
  6. Interdepartmental collaboration:
    • Work closely with relevant departments to ensure data accuracy.

REQUIRED SKILLS :

  • Degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
  • Professional experience with other NGOs
  • Professional experience using accounting software and Excel, proficiency in Maconomy is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge, training and/or experience specific to the SYCEBNL system.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and financial standards.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to organize oneself and colleagues in order to achieve set objectives.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Knowledge of English is an advantage

Type of contract: Initial fixed-term contract of 06 months with a probability of extension

NB: The position is reserved for candidates of Central African nationality.
