Accountant, Climate Adaptation Program At Counterpart International


Climate Adaptation Activity is a five-year USAID-funded program that seeks to build long-term resilience to locally led climate change by promoting sustainable livelihoods and water security, which should result in significant environmental gains in the Dajabón hydrographic basin, beyond the province and in Haiti. Engaging communities, taking advantage of private financing and public resources, enable data-based decision-making and create diverse partnerships based on inclusion and market-based approaches, Climate Adaptation Activity will accelerate social outcomes, sustainable economic and environmental.

For this purpose, and to meet all the accounting requirements of the Project, Counterpart seeks to hire an Accountant under the supervision of the Director of Finance and Administration who will be responsible for the tasks described below. This position will be based in Santiago and / or Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures related to the financial area.
  • Carry out the accounting record of the operations of the office in accordance with the policies established by the central office.
  • Record the expenses and income of the Project in the accounting system.
  • Prepare bank transfers and reconciliations and checks.
  • Support in the preparation of the monthly operational and programmatic budgets, provide funds to maintain the cash flow and financial operations of the Project.
  • Manage the petty cash by coordinating with the Finance and Administration Manager and other designated staff.
  • Prepare and present financial cost reports, budget projections, and accounting follow-ups.
  • Prepare and carry out payroll processes for project personnel.
  • Keep physical and digital accounting files up to date.
  • Support with local and central office audit requests.
  • Prepare and certify the accounting and accountability reports necessary before the Dominican authorities, as required.
  • Any other activity that is required.

Qualifications

  • Professional graduate of Public Accounting, registered with the Institute of Authorized Public Accountants of the Dominican Republic (ICPARD).
  • Minimum experience of five (5) years performing accounting and / or financial tasks in private institutions, non-profit organizations, or in cooperation agencies.
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting processes and knowledge of good financial practices.
  • Experience in managing accounting systems and banking platforms.
  • Knowledge of the regulations and regulations of international cooperation projects, preferably.
  • Complete management of the Spanish and English language at a basic level.
  • Skills in the management of Microsoft Office, particularly in the use of Word and Excel.
  • Skills to work as a team.
  • Be highly organized and focused on details.
  • Organized with good interpersonal relationships and used to working under pressure.
