COOPI Cooperazione Internazionale is an Italian secular and independent humanitarian organization that fights against all forms of poverty to improve the world. Founded in 1965, today COOPI is present in 33 countries in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and the Middle East, with both emergency and development projects carried out by expatriate personnel – an average of more than 270 people a year – and national personnel. The main institutional funders are the European Union – ECHO and INTPA – USAID, UN agencies, the Italian Government, local authorities and other European governments.

Description of COOPI in Venezuela

Since 2019 COOPI establishes a presence in Venezuela to assist the local population after the worsening of the country’s socioeconomic crisis. Starting in July 2020, a regional crisis response program began, which was implemented in consortium with Venezuelan organizations for the protection of vulnerable groups. In these years COOPI has expanded its interventions and is currently executing projects with different donors in Caracas, Sucre, Delta Amacuro and Bolivar in protection (GBV, Child Protection, Trafficking and Human Trafficking), reproductive sexual health, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and school feeding.

Objective / job description

COOPI plans to strengthen the project team by hiring One (01) School-Based Program Coordination Assistant. The main function is focused on supporting the Project Coordination in the distribution of school meals in the COOPI intervention areas in the state of Sucre. Their role involves supporting the coordination of activities on the ground, managing key information related to food distribution and assisting in the implementation of School-Based Program activities. In addition, they will ensure that WFP-designed inclusion, diversity, gender and protection policies are effectively implemented. All these actions will be carried out in full compliance with the objectives of the COOPI organization, the commitments with the donor, World Food Program, and national regulations in the areas of intervention.

Areas of responsibility

Coordination in the Field

  • Collaborate in the detailed planning and execution of all activities related to the School-Based Program in the COOPI intervention areas;
  • Supervise operations in the field, ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with established procedures and quality standards;
  • Coordinate and support the logistics of food distributions in schools and beneficiary communities, ensuring an efficient and timely relationship;
  • Facilitate effective communication between field teams and COOPI headquarters, ensuring that relevant information is shared in a timely manner.

Information Management

  • Centralize and manage critical information related to food distribution and all activities related to school meals;
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date beneficiary records, distribution data, monitoring reports, and any other information necessary for program monitoring and evaluation;
  • Collaborate in the preparation of technical and financial reports required by the donor and other interested parties.

Participation in WFP Meetings

  • Attend and actively participate in all meetings convened by the WFP related to the distribution of school meals in all its modalities;
  • Collect and synthesize relevant information from these meetings to share with the project team and ensure the effective implementation of the recommendations.

Support for the execution of the Program

  • Collaborate with the Coordinator in the elaboration of a detailed schedule for the execution of activities related to the School-Based Program;
  • Contribute to the education and training of school meal teams, as well as the planning and monitoring of kitchen maintenance and the implementation of the modalities of dish served and distribution of baskets to take home;
  • Play an active role in any other activity carried out within the framework of the School-Based Program.

Desired profile

ESSENTIAL

  • University studies in areas of administration, public management, international relations or related to the position;
  • Demonstrable work experience of at least 3 years, preferably in the management of social projects, food programs or community projects;
  • Experience in creating documents and reports;
  • Ability to work autonomously (organization, work planning, analytical development, synthesis) and in contexts with high complexities and under pressure (meeting limited dates);
  • Excellent teamwork capacity, face-to-face and remotely;
  • Good communication, creativity, proactivity and social sensitivity to collaborate with various stakeholders in the community, including the continuous accompaniment of processes;
  • Respect for COOPI’s vision and mission, its charter of values and humanitarian principles;
  • Advanced Spanish language written and spoken essential;
  • Management of computer tools (Microsoft Windows operating system) and office tools (Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook);
  • Immediate availability.

DESABLE

  • Previous experiences of working with international NGOs and institutional donors;
  • Knowledge of the English languages;
  • Venezuelan nationality or residence permit in the country.
