Organisational Setting and ReportingThis position is within the Service Delivery in the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia (UNVMC), in Bogota. The Transport Assistant reports to the Chief transport officer. The incumbent is responsible for the completion of a variety of specialized activities enabling the efficient operations of the transportation/vehicle fleet in line with UN Rules and Regulations.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Transport Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  •  Issues vehicles in accordance with vehicles establishment committee (VEC) decisions and Chief Transport Officer (CTO) guidance.
  •  Participates in innovative projects for transport digital platforms on Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking, fleet management and data analytics to enhance efficiency as guided by the standard operating procedure (SOP).
  •  Enters data, updates, and verifies all information and records of UN-Owned transport assets in UMOJA.
  •  Raises discrepancy and defect reports for incoming assets that are not in accordance with specifications outlined in Purchase Order(s).
  •  Conducts random and scheduled physical verification checks, ensuring that all vehicle/ asset related databases are updated.
  •  Maintains complete records and documents of all related transactions and entries.
  •  Generates complete and up-to-date inventory reports.
  •  Assists in processing write-off request for vehicles and equipment.
  •  Generates correspondence and relevant status reports/technical reports as required for preparation of Business performance reports.
  •  Perform vendor evaluation on the Contract Performance Reporting Tool (CPRT) platform.
  •  Ensures that all UNVMC policies are applied and followed thoroughly across all processes, including adherence to UNVMC code of conduct and ethics, and integrates a gender-sensitive approach in all functions.
  •  Performs other duties, as assigned.

EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job – Specific QualificationA valid driving license and certificate of safe driving is required.

Work ExperienceAt least five (05) years of progressively responsible experience in transport operations management is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) years for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience with Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI), data analytics and reporting are desirable. Experience in motor vehicle transport operations or related area is desirable.

LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in both English and Spanish is required. NOTE: Fluency equals a rating of “fluent” in all four areas (read, write, speak, understand) and “knowledge of” equals a rating of “confident” in two of the four areas.

  •  This position is temporarily available until 31 December 2023. If the selected candidate is a staff member from the United Nations Secretariat, the selection will be administered as a temporary assignment.
