1. Organizational Context

a. Organizational Setting

The post is located in the Operations Service of The Hague Registry, Brands and Designs Sector. The Operations Service processes international design applications and other transactions related to the administration of the various Acts of the Hague Agreement.

b. Purpose Statement

The main role of the incumbent is to participate in the development of business requirements to support the needs of applicants, Offices and third parties in relation to the processing of international applications, taking into account necessary integration between internal and external systems, and coordination between business and IT units.

c. Reporting Lines

The incumbent works under the supervision of the Business Analyst, Operations Service.

2. Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will perform the following principal duties:

  •  Document and track the resolution of incidents and functional gaps in the IT system for the processing and handling of international industrial design registrations;
  •  Develop and maintain IT system documentation such as manuals, tutorials, training material, and instructional videos;
  •  Participate in the delivery of new system features and enhancements by providing clarifications, eliciting requirements, testing and provisioning validated and translated textual content;
  •  Participate in the design of functional requirements related to the accession of new Contracting Parties to the Hague System including data and information exchange arrangements;
  •  Produce statistics, reports and trend analysis;
  •  Produce communications material for Offices and/or users; and
  •  Perform other related duties as required.

3. Requirements

Education (Essential)

First-level university degree in business, communications, or international relations.

Experience (Essential)

At least three years of relevant experience, including in the area of industrial design or comparable experience.

Experience (Desirable)

Experience in an Intellectual Property Office or similar environment.

Language (Essential)

Excellent knowledge of English.

Language (Desirable)

Good knowledge of official United Nations languages or of languages of major user countries of the Hague System.

5. Inform ation

Annual salary :

Total annual salary consists of a net annual salary (net of taxes and before medical insurance and pension fund deductions) in US dollars and a post adjustment. Please note that this estimate is for information only. The post adjustment multiplier (cost of living allowance) is variable and subject to change (increase or decrease) without notice. The figures quoted below are based on the May 2023 rate of 84.4%.

Salaries and allowances are paid in Swiss francs at the official rate of exchange of the United Nations.

Temporary appointments are renewable, subject to continuing needs, availability of budget and satisfactory performance with a maximum cumulative length of two years.
