Doctors with Africa CUAMM is the first Italian healthcare-focused NGO officially recognized by Italian authorities.
Founded in 1950 with the aim of training doctors to work in developing countries, Doctors with Africa CUAMM is working in Angola, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and the Central African Republic implementing healthcare projects in partnership with local governments and institutions.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University Degree in Medicine with further specialisation in Surgery or equivalent title
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Long time experience in the field of general/emergency surgery and obstetric surgery
  • Previous professional experience in fragile/low resources settings

KEY DUTIES
The surgeon guarantees and supervises the clinical activities of the Surgery and Obstetrics Departments, ensuring the quality of care and the training of local staff in the management of surgical and obstetric emergencies.
The specific tasks will be:

  • management and clinical support to Maternity and Surgery Departments, in order to improve the organization in terms of staff and use of materials and equipment
  • training of health staff on the application of national and international guidelines and standard
  • monitoring of data collection in departments of competence
  • supervise drugs and consumables management in the departments
