Background

For 30 years, and through our work in more than one hundred countries, the American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) has tried to strengthen legal institutions, support legal professionals, promote respect for human rights and promote public understanding of the law and the rights of citizens. In collaboration with government agencies, the judiciary, lawyers, bar associations, legislatures and civil society, We design programs that respond to local needs and that prioritize sustainable solutions to the pressing challenges of the rule of law.

Description of the charge

ABA ROLI-Division of Latin America and the Caribbean is looking for a full-time program assistant to support the implementation of activities to strengthen the fight against trafficking of people in Colombia. The program assistant will primarily provide administrative and programmatic support, including, but not limited to, reporting, monitoring support, and monitoring of grant progress, and support in the coordination of trips, events and meetings. This position depends on the approval of grant funds.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the supervision of grants with ABA ROLI partner civil society organizations, in the organization and development of follow-up meetings, which includes presentations, minutes and documents.

· Support the planning and coordination of trips, events and workshops by preparing event and workshop forms.

• Collaborate in the hiring and incorporation of consultants and coordinate the scheduling of periodic control meetings.

• Register, finalize and distribute the minutes of the meetings in which accompaniment is required, and support the follow-up of the commitments derived from the meetings.

• Support the coordination of programs and the supervision of subsidies, in communication with partners and allies, when required.

• Provide advanced administrative support to important projects, programs and / or working groups.

• Support in the convening and development of weekly team meetings, which includes the preparation of minutes, monitoring of commitments and updating of program planning instruments.

• Support in the preparation of technical documents such as: articles, blogs, success stories, among others, in accordance with the guidelines of the coordination and technical team.

• Perform other tasks as required by the team.

Supervision

The program assistant will be supervised by the Program Coordinator.

Basic qualifications:

– Professional degree in law, political science or international relations.

– Minimum experience of one year as an assistant to international cooperation projects with international agencies, NGOs or human rights organizations.

– Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint domain.

– Previous work experience in an office environment.

– Fluency is required in Spanish (written and oral).

Preferred qualifications:

– Mastery of English is desirable.

– Previous experience in the execution of development projects.

– Experience in preparing reports and supporting the writing and execution of activities of the event coordination work plan.

– Demonstrated ability to perform administrative and logistical tasks, follow procedures, and meet regulatory requirements.
