About Trócaire

Trócaire is the official overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland. Trócaire was established to express the concern of the Irish Catholic Church for any form of human need, but particularly for the needs and problems of communities in the Global South. With our partners we work with some of the world’s poorest people, supporting women, men and communities for long-term change. In Ireland, we raise awareness about the causes of poverty through our outreach programmes in the education sector, through parish networks, and through our public campaigns and advocacy work. Context of Work

Saving lives and protecting human dignity is among the five goals under Trocaire 2021-25 Trocaire programme strategic plan. We will help build the resilience of people who are at risk, strengthening their ability to cope with future shocks and stresses.

Delivering humanitarian interventions that are safe, inclusive, dignified and conflict sensitive across a range of sectors require competent humanitarian personal that are continuedly learning. Hence, Trocaire is organizing a global humanitarian workshop in Nairobi to facilitate learning and sharing of experience among humanitarian officers from 8 FCAS countries and global advisors.

Scope of the Work

The humanitarian workshop in Nairobi will focus on enhancing the core humanitarian skills of participants, with a specific emphasis on a 2.5-day training on Sphere minimum standards.
