Job Description

Background

The UNODC Country Office for Pakistan (COPAK) is tasked with assisting Pakistan through its recently developed Country Programme 2022-2025 with a focus on needs related to Transnational Organized Crimes and Border Management, Criminal Justice System and Legal Reforms, Drug Demand Reduction and HIV/AIDS and Countering and Preventing Terrorism. UNODC require the services of Driver to be based in Islamabad and often visits to other cities of Pakistan.

Assignment Objective

The position will provide reliable and safe driving services to UNODC officers ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, a sense of responsibility, and excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The driver also demonstrates a client- oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

Methodology The driver will need to be based in the UNODC Country Office Pakistan, Islamabad in order to complete the deliverables required under this position.

Planning and Implementation Arrangements The driver will report to the Assistant Admin and Logistics officer under the guidance of the Finance and Oversight Manager and Overall supervision of the Country Representative.

Payment Schedule and Rate The Senior Driver will be issued an SC contract in accordance with United Nations rules and procedures. Payment scale will be determined by UNDP recommended rates for service contract holders. Travel costs including transportation and DSA for domestic and international travel will be paid by UNODC in accordance with United Nations rules and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities

The driver will undertake the following duties and responsibilities

1.Ensure the provision of reliable and safe driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the safe transport of UNODC, other high-ranking officials, visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents, and other items. b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangements when required.

2. Ensure cost-saving through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, and provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.

3. Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, water, battery, etc.

4.Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle. Logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc; 5.Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents. 6.Should any vehicle be involved in an accident, ensure that the steps required by UN/UNODC/UNDSS rules and regulations are followed 7.Supervise sight maintenance of the vehicles. 8.Perform other duties as required or assigned by the supervisor

Required Skills and Experience

Education:

  •  High School Certificate and
  •  Valid Driving License;

Experience:

  •  Knowledge of driving rules and regulations;
  •  Minimum 2 years of driving experience with a safe driving record, preferably with a multi-national / international organization;
  •  UN experience would be an added advantage.
  •  Familiarity with key locations throughout Pakistan especially in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
  •  Good spoken and written Urdu and a moderate English communication level.
