Who are we
War Child Netherlands consists of more than 50 passionate professionals who are responsible for a large part of War Child Global’s income, all fundraising activities in the Netherlands and for the positioning and reputation of the organization. You are part of the Communications & Advocacy team and work closely with the Institutional Fundraising and Programs team in the Netherlands.
You are:
An inspiring team player who develops a creative approach for our advocacy and communication activities, with a specific focus on the Dutch government, institutional donors and EU agencies. You have a great affinity with the content of War Child’s work, and you have an eye for telling and writing beautiful stories that touch policy influencers but also the general public. You like dynamics, think outside the box, are decisive and enjoy using your humor within an ambitious and warm team.
Your tasks:
- You set the course and build an advocacy strategy that fits within War Child’s positioning in the Netherlands and that strengthens communication and fundraising activities;
- You represent War Child in various Dutch networks of collaborating charities – such as the Platform for Humanitarian Actions, the Dutch Relief Alliance and Partos;
- You analyze developments in the field of politics and policy, particularly focused on development cooperation and financing for themes within this policy;
- You inspire colleagues with surprising communications & campaigns linked to advocacy themes and know how to present them in a creative way;
- You write communication plans for projects financed by institutional donors;
- You interact with colleagues from War Child’s international communication and advocacy teams and focus on content and campaign opportunities that you can translate for the Dutch market;
- You advise the War Child Netherlands management team on specific policy positions, and provide advice on the approach to strategic partnerships, advocacy approach campaigns and communication.
Profile
- HBO or master in International relations, political science or communication sciences
- At least 5 years of experience as a (Senior) Advocacy specialist or Communications Advisor
- A network in the Dutch humanitarian sector
- Excellent Planning and organizational skills
- Excellent writing skills and fluent writing in Dutch are a must
- Command of English in speaking and writing
- Affinity with the story, values and positioning of War Child in the Netherlands.
What we offer
- Salaris varieert van €3898 tot €4847 bruto per maand, op basis van 40 uur per week (het exacte bedrag wordt bepaald door de jaren van je relevante werkervaring)
- 8% vakantietoeslag op basis van het jaarsalaris
- Een arbeidsovereenkomst voor 32-40 uur
- 29 vakantiedagen per jaar op fulltime basis (waarvan 3 vooraf vastgestelde vrije dagen)
- Een volledig door War Child betaalde pensioenregeling
- Netto tegemoetkoming in de thuiswerk -en reiskosten volgens on hybride werkbeleid
- Maandelijkse mobiele telefoonvergoeding van €25 netto per maand

Onze organisatie
War Child Nederland is een dynamische organisatie waar een informele sfeer heerst en waar veel ruimte is voor creativiteit en eigen initiatief. Het imago dat War Child Nederland extern uitdraagt, is een blauwdruk van het werk op het kantoor: het is dynamisch, vernieuwend, integer en gericht op het behalen van resultaten tegen lage kosten. War Child Nederland besteedt zoveel mogelijk budget aan het helpen van kinderen in oorlog en doet er daarom alles aan om de kosten zo laag mogelijk te houden. Onze arbeidsvoorwaarden zijn op het niveau van de Nederlandse NGO sector. Het kantoor is gevestigd in de Amsterdamse wijk Watergraafsmeer. Momenteel werken we in een hybride vorm, met de combinatie van thuis en op kantoor.
