Security Assistant – Choir, Edo. Falcon At RET International


Reporting Line

The Security Assistant reports to the Local Project Coordinator, as well as to the National Logistics and Infrastructure Coordinator, to the/the National Security Officer and the National Security Assistant.

Main location

The position is based on the RET Local Office, located in Coro, Falcón State.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor compliance with the RET Security Policy and Manual in Venezuela.
  • Drive the RET vehicle assigned to you during team missions to the field, meetings, administrative procedures, logistics and any other type required for the development of operations in Venezuela.
  • Drive the vehicle only at the time established for this purpose according to the RET Security Policy and Manual in Venezuela.
  • Comply with the Venezuelan land transport and transit law and all current regulations.
  • Guarantee that only personnel, goods, equipment and supplies due to and previously accredited by the Country Director, managers and officers authorized for this purpose are loaded and transferred in RET vehicles.
  • Ensure the safety of personnel, vehicles and transported goods.
  • Comply with strict adherence to the routes authorized by the Security Officer. Monitor and report the conditions of the road and any security risk or incident that occurred using the corresponding formats.
  • Support the administrative and logistical activities assigned to it for the development of RET operations in Venezuela.
  • Before each mission, ensure that the vehicle is in a proper state of maintenance and equipped with the necessary implements to guarantee incident and emergency management on the ground (first aid kit, fire extinguisher, spare rubber, cat, etc.).
  • Inform the Security Officer of any identified need to extend or change the authorized mission or route plan.
  • At the end of the mission, ensure that the vehicle is properly parked and guarded in the area assigned for this purpose in the RET office.

Others

  • Attend any meeting that is required;
  • Complete any additional tasks within the framework of its functions, as requested by the Local Project Officer.

Additionally, like all RET staff

  • Work with confidence and integrity and have a clear commitment to the core values and principles of RET, ensuring that the activities and their performance comply with the provisions of the RET Code of Conduct, the PSEA and other Internal Manuals and Policies;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, demonstrating management and leadership skills;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with relevant institutions and organizations, and with internal and external stakeholders, as a representative of RET. These skills include effective negotiation and representation;
  • Constructively propose alternative solutions to problems that arise in the work area.

Qualifications and requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Driving license. 3rd grade minimum, current.
  • Current medical certificate
  • 4 to 7 years of experience as a driver.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the Venezuelan road network.
  • Venezuelan nationality is required or permission to work in Venezuela (essential).
  • Immediate availability is required.
  • Flexibility to manage different tasks effectively and willing to spend extra hours when necessary.
  • Availability to travel throughout the national territory, as necessary.
  • Office management
