ABOUT THE ROLE Action Against Hunger Canada is building a roster of professionals with experience in drafting and finalization of concept notes and full proposals to Global Affairs Canada and other institutional donor agencies. If approved, the candidate will remain in the Consultant Roster database for 36 months, unless they request to be removed earlier. During this period, candidates may be contacted to confirm their interest and suitability for specific mandates. They may be engaged in consultancies several times, depending on request flow. The duration of the assignments will vary but is typically between 2 and 6 weeks. Work is generally conducted remotely; however, some specific assignments may require travel to country office locations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, or the Middle East.

QUALIFICATIONS :

1) Education
• Advanced University degree and/or relevant experience in one of the following fields: social sciences, gender studies, nutrition, public health, agronomy, or other related disciplines.

2) Work experience
• At least five years of experience in grants writing, unsolicited or in response to calls for proposals from Global Affairs Canada. Experience of proposal writing on health & nutrition, food security, climate change adaptation and gender-related issues is a strong asset.
• A proven track record of successful proposals submitted to Global Affairs Canada, particularly for development programming.
• Grant writing experience with other institutional donor agencies will be considered an asset.

3) Competencies
• Knowledge of international development issues. Knowledge of Action Against Hunger is a plus.
• Strong understanding of gender equality approaches and the promotion of women and girls’ empowerment within development and humanitarian programming.
• Extensive knowledge of GAC’s funding mechanism, rules, and expectations.
• Strong research capacity; interpreting, and analyzing, complex international development issues and representing such information in a clear and concise written manner.
• Conscientiousness and efficiency in meeting commitments, observing deadlines, and meeting results.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to establish harmonious working relations in a multicultural environment.

4) Languages

• Excellent writing skills in English and/or French
