Project Officer, USAID Strengthening Democratic Governance (SDG) Activity At Counterpart International


Counterpart is accepting CVs for a Project Officer for Activity Strengthening Democratic Governance / Strengthening Democratic Governance (SDG) funded by USAID . The purpose of the Activity is to build systemic accountability and the response capacity of the Government of Honduras (GOH) to citizens, at the same time that civil society is strengthened, to increase confidence, safeguard human rights, and encourage Hondurans to remain in their country and participate in their democracy. SDG’s first work order aims to 1) Improve effective governance capacity, transparency, accountability and response to citizenship by the institutions of the Government of Honduras; and 2) Provide location, learning, adaptation,monitoring and support in collecting information to implement activities for all work orders (OT) and SDG objectives.

Under the supervision of the head of Objective 3 / Leader of Component 2 of the Labor Order, the Project Officer will support all project initiatives, including the execution of activities, reporting, collaboration with allies and other stakeholders, and administrative support.

The Project Officer position is full-time based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with the possibility of traveling to other municipalities where the project is executed, such as San Pedro de Sula.

Responsibilities

  • Support the SDG team and local stakeholders to ensure high-quality execution of program activities, such as training courses, workshops, meetings, etc.
  • Provide assistance in conducting background-related research and market analysis. This may include the collection of historical information, as well as the study of current conditions and trends in the market or context, as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Take notes at internal and external meetings and prepare reports of meetings, as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Continuously evaluate and incorporate lessons learned in project execution for continuous improvement.
  • Provide information on project performance and recommend necessary adjustments.
  • Prepare materials for events, trainings and field work and participate in different events / dialogues.
  • Carry out preparatory activities for training sessions and other high-level events.
  • In close coordination with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) team, manage the data received from trainings, workshops, meetings and other relevant events, including the preparation of collection templates, their collection, the introduction of data and their basic analysis in reports.
  • Contribute to the administration and support of the program by preparing and monitoring the budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of periodic reports, including oral and written reporting.
  • Support home travel logistics for program team members.
  • Coordinate with team members, consultants and local partners the timely provision of inputs and data to feed the reports, compliance and completion of administrative processes, and communication with Counterpart headquarters in Washington, DC about project activities, as needed and according to approved deadlines.
  • Support in the coordination and edition of the content of the program’s reports and publications.
  • Attend events and program activities to support their effective execution, including administrative processes, liaison with providers, registration of participants, note taking, assistance to training, etc.
  • Support field work as needed and in agreement with the supervisor, including possible travel and missions.
  • Support for coordination for content development for discussion topics, speeches, and presentations for events and activities.
  • Other tasks assigned to you.

Qualifications

  • University degree in international development, international relations, political sciences, social sciences or other relevant field.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience related to project management or coordination, administration and / or reporting are required.
  • Experience in projects related to the incidence of civil society, relationship and involvement with the government, the fight against corruption, migration issues, or related areas will be especially appreciated.
  • Preferably experience in development projects funded by international donors, preferably USAID.
  • Experience and capacity in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including civil society, government and private sector entities.
  • Experience in collecting and analyzing data from events and activities will be valued.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work well as a team and individually, under little supervision.
  • Mastery of spoken and written Spanish. Advanced knowledge of oral and written communication of the English language.
