Presentation of’Interpeace :
Interpeace is an international peacebuilding organization that builds the capacity of societies to manage conflicts on their own in a sustainable and non-violent manner. It adapts its approach to each situation in partnership with local actors and communities, through extensive consultations and research. Interpeace also ensures that the conflict management and change processes that’elle supports connect all levels of society, including local communities, civil society, and others, government and the international community (track 6 approach).
The’organisation was launched by the United Nations and remains their strategic partner. Beyond peacebuilding in the countries where it works, it also assists the international community – including’ONU – to make it more effective in supporting efforts on this issue worldwide. In particular, it seeks to contribute proactively to innovations in peacebuilding policies and practices.
The’organisation has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and has offices all over the world. ’Interpeace’s strategy in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is to harness research, dialogue and collective’action to help build trust among communities in conflict, and’ between communities, authorities, the private sector and the international community. The’organization aims to strengthen the capacities of key actors in effective conflict prevention, management and transformation to enable them to promote sustainable peace.
In the Great Lakes region, Interpeace and its partners APC, CENAP, NAR, Pole Institute, RLP and VJN are implementing a program which aims to give young people in the Great Lakes region ( Burundi, Rwanda, North Kivu, South Kivu and Uganda ) the means to become key players in peace processes at local, national and regional levels.
