A PMO and management consultant is wanted for the Management Secretariat in UNICEF Denmark

Do you want to help implement UNICEF Denmark’s strategy and ensure coherence between resources and impact in our efforts to help the world’s children? Are you motivated by project management, portfolio management and by helping others with good project management? And do you want to work closely with management and translate thoughts and visions into concrete decision proposals? Then this is the job for you.

UNICEF Denmark works continuously to increase project maturity in the organisation. We have come a long way, but we need you to help us take the next step in this high-priority area.

Your tasks will primarily be to:

  •  Ensure evaluation and follow-up of the organisation’s strategic efforts and prioritization of future efforts
  •  Ensure uniform processes and formats to strengthen the quality of the projects
  •  Establish clear processes for the management’s portfolio management,
  •  Onboard relevant employees in UNICEF’s project guide and how we run projects in UNICEF Denmark
  •  Provide sparring and advice to project managers in the organisation, including giving feedback on project descriptions, timetables etc. and support the use of the tools in UNICEF’s project guide
  •  Build and maintain an archive for best practice, including examples of completed project descriptions, timetables and other templates that the project managers can be inspired by
  •  Assist with management and board services, including planning seminars, preparing decision presentations, notes etc.
  •  Prepare proposals and presentations for UNICEF Denmark’s secretary general

About the position

You will be part of a small management secretariat with a varied and dynamic environment, where you will have a transversal role. This is a newly created position, and you therefore have the opportunity to influence the content. We have high demands on your professionalism and strive to develop and improve our skills. The tone of conversation is informal and warm, but formal when required. We have a good working environment and help each other. The main emphasis of your work will be about PMO and project execution, but there are also a number of tasks related to management service. In the position, you will have the opportunity to influence the tools, work processes and methods we use.

We expect you to:

  •  Has a relevant academic education and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with management tasks, project and portfolio work
  •  Experience with management services
  •  Works analytically, is good at executing and can ensure progress, including planning your work independently
  •  Are good at building and creating relationships, as you will have a wide contact surface in the organization
  •  Has strong communication skills both in writing and in speech and is able to make good presentations in Danish and English.

Terms of employment:

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, no later than 01-10-2023. The working hours are 37 hours per week including a paid lunch break.

You will report to the head of the Management Secretariat.
