French Farmers and International Development (Afdi) is an association of agricultural professionals, whose mission is to build partnerships between the French agricultural world and countries of the South. For nearly 50 years, Afdi has supported the strengthening of peasant organizations, in their internal governance, in their advocacy and the implementation of services for their members.
Afdi operates in Chad in partnership with four peasant organizations. It supports their organizational strengthening, the improvement of agricultural practices, the processing and marketing of local products, and the training and literacy of rural women.
Afdi plans to implement a project to promote agricultural entrepreneurship (PEA), financed by the French Development Agency (AFD), and led by a consortium of international NGOs and Chadian farmers’ organizations. The project is currently in the design phase.
To contribute to the PEA project, Afdi is looking for a project manager.
Under the supervision of the PEA project manager, the PEA project manager will have the following missions:
- Participate in the design of the project : consultation with NGO members of the consortium, partners in Chad and other stakeholders, contribute to the drafting of the project;
- Participate in the administrative setup of the project ;
- Participate in the instruction phase of the project ;
- Contribute to the start of project implementation : recruitment of the project team in Chad, establishment of monitoring-evaluation, communication and capitalization systems, technical and financial monitoring of activities interfacing with the team in Chad ;
- Participate in actions to ensure consistency and revitalize the Afdi network : team meetings, permanent seminars, etc.
Training and experience
- Training in international development, agronomy or equivalent; baccalaureate level + 4/5;
- Professional experience of at least 5 years in the international cooperation sector.
Skills sought
- General knowledge of agriculture and peasant organizations;
- Mastery of the project cycle: management, monitoring, evaluation, capitalization;
- Excellent synthesis and writing skills;
- Skills in technical and financial monitoring and reporting of development projects;
- Ability to lead meetings and collective dynamics within the framework of complex multi-actor partnerships.

Status: one-year fixed-term contract (CDD), with the prospect of a permanent contract;
Location: position based in Paris 8th (Miromesnil metro station);
Salary: depending on experience (between €33 and €36k gross annually);
