CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION OF THE POSITION:

The WFP Office in Kananga is currently looking for a Nutrition Program Manager, level SC8, for an initial period of 12 months, renewable.

The main objective of WFP’s nutritional response in the Kasai regions is to contribute to the reduction of acute malnutrition and associated mortality levels. To do this, WFP and its cooperating partners leverage their respective comparative advantages to provide a holistic package of essential nutrition services integrating the prevention and treatment of acute malnutrition as well as interventions addressing some of the underlying causes. malnutrition at the community level.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (indicative and non-exhaustive list):

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Office, the direct supervision of the Office Program Manager, and the technical supervision of the National Head of the Nutrition Unit.

The incumbent will be responsible for carrying out the following main responsibilities and tasks:

  1. Provide technical support to WFP’s emergency nutritional response with regular field visits;
  2. Develop and coordinate data management and monitoring/evaluation systems to ensure compliance with standards and the quality of interventions;
  3. Ensure the monitoring and analysis of nutritional data in order to provide a report of activities;
  4. Contribute to the preparation of appropriate and timely nutritional activity reports in order to be able to support decisions/adaptations of interventions and to inform the various partners;
  5. In coordination with operational partners, monitor the implementation of the various nutritional activities by ensuring effective collaboration and addressing risks;
  6. Strengthen the capacities of WFP staff, partners and government to prepare and respond to nutritional needs, for example the development and revision of training tools;
  7. Participate in the identification of potential partners and partnership negotiations to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach that meets nutritional needs;
  8. Support the implementation of emergency IYCF protocols through the various WFP operations in coordination with the different sectors (food security, etc.), partners and the government;
  9. Support the integration of sensitive nutrition interventions such as through P4P (resilience activities) and other WFP interventions (school canteens, GFD, CBT, etc.);
  10. Support the design, development, implementation and monitoring of social and behavioral change communications as a complementary intervention to nutrition-specific activities;
  11. Ensure strategic engagement with the Nutrition Cluster with government, UNICEF and other key partners to strengthen alignment and promote the implementation of coordinated/multi-sectoral responses, including ensuring the MAM-MAS continuum of care;
  12. Contribute to the development of specific funding proposals for nutrition activities in collaboration with the National Nutrition team and the Donor Relations Manager;
  13. Participate in the organization of donor visits and nutrition communication/advocacy events;
  14. Perform any other tasks requested by the supervisor as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Formation:

  • The candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in public health, nutrition or any other related field.

Experience wanted:

  • Be of Congolese nationality;
  • Have at least 2 years of experience in the field of nutritional, public health and humanitarian activities.
  • Have experience in managing a nutrition program of at least 5 years with international NGOs;
  • Experience of at least 2 years with United Nations agencies;
  • Have knowledge of the malnutrition management protocol and be able to defend it.
  • Knowledge of the use of computer tools and nutritional data processing software (ENA, EPI NUT, SPSS,)

Knowledge and skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Understanding of donors present in the Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Knowledge of humanitarian coordination and cluster systems.
  • Knowledge of the United Nations system preferred.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and in difficult conditions.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Great ability to work in a team, empathy and flexibility.

Languages:

  • Mastery (Level C) of French, both spoken and written
  • Knowledge of English (Level B) will be an asset
