Organizational Setting

The project titled “Promote agricultural cooperatives for increased market competitiveness” is developed to support the establishment and operations of production cooperatives in rural areas, which is a government priority, as reflected in various state programs, such as the “Strategic Vision and Roadmap for Azerbaijan 2020-2025,” the “State Program of Socio-Economic Development of the Regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2019-2023,” and “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development”.

The project aims at improving the enabling environment for the establishment and effective operations of production cooperatives and mainly focuses on capacity building, awareness raising, and the promotion of the establishment of rules and procedures for cooperatives that fit the best practices applied internationally.

Reporting Lines

The National Specialist on Corporate Business models will work under the overall supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative of FAO Partnership and Liaison Office in Azerbaijan, the technical supervision of the Lead Technical Officer and project team.

Technical Focus

The National Specialist on Corporate Business models (cooperative development) will support the process of developing financial plans and strategies for agricultural cooperatives in Azerbaijan.

Tasks and responsibilities

  •  Design appropriate templates of business plans for cooperatives that are suitable poorly literate members and operators;
  •  Develop and lead the preparation and implementation of workshops on cooperative business models;
  •  Review existing business plans of cooperatives, if available, and support their reformulation as required;
  •  Develop business plans for cooperatives that will be developed during project implementation;
  •  Contribute to the development of recommendations to strengthen existing agricultural cooperatives, in close collaboration with the NSAC and in close consultation with, and the direct technical supervision of the International Consultant on Cooperatives.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  •  An advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in Business Modeling, Business Development and Management or a related field;
  •  5 years of relevant practical field experience in business development;
  •  Working knowledge of English is required;
  •  National of Azerbaijan or a legal resident in the country.

Technical/Functional Skills

  •  Ability to create user-friendly business plan templates for cooperatives with low literacy levels.
  •  Proficiency in designing and leading workshops on cooperative business models.
  •  Experience in reviewing and reformulating existing business plans and developing comprehensive business plans for cooperatives.
  •  Strong presentation and report writing skills.
